Rude staff and cold food I needed to get some shopping and decided to pop in to the café for something to eat as there where only a few other customers in there. To start off i waited 5 minutes at the till before deciding to look round the corner to see if i could see anyone. I found a members of staff on there phone at the back, who looked annoyed that i had interrupted them. I ordered fish and chips and a coffee. Both The coffee machines where not working so i let the member of staff know who came to empty the coffee grounds, when she opened the door on it loads of little flies came flying out so I didn't end up drinking the coffee as that put me off. There where a lot of dirty tables that needed clearing and a few staff members but no one seemed to be doing it. The food took about 10 mins. The chips looked like they had been under a heat lamp for about 2 hours and where only slightly warm. I asked a member of staff called Shenna if i could speak to a manager she huffed in a very rude way and said "why". I told her my chips where cold and she said she was a manager. She snatched the plate from the table mumble something under her breath a walked back into the kitchen. 10 minuets later came back out slammed it on the table and walked off without saying a word. The chip where fresh but the fish was stone cold and had obviously just been sitting on the side while the chip where cooked. I wont be going back and it put me off doing my shopping...

Bearing in mind this is a little branded cafe, attached to a supermarket, it's fine. They're not trying to be a bistro or provide any sense of fine dining experience.
If you're looking for an alternative to Wincheap rush hour traffic, or just some cheap, edible grub then there are worse places and few alternatives nearby. The food is a solid 3/5 - bit meh but the prices seem more than fair considering. Menu is short but varied but with nothing exotic or surprising; fish & chips, chicken burger, spag. bol. etc
Coffee and soft drinks pump out of a machine, cutlery and condiments you can grab yourself as you leave the cafeteria style counter. The tables are a bit sticky at times but the decor is bearable - it does feel a bit like an Ikea showroom though.
The reason this gets a 4 is because I've never encountered a member of cafe staff who wasn't polite, helpful and friendly.

Read moreWe ordered 2 breakfast brunches and they came out within 2 minutes of sitting down. The bacon was brown and mouldy. The food was like warm at best. When we asked about it, we were told that was normal. This was easily the worst food I’ve ever eaten. It looked like a plate of slop. It wasn’t fit for consumption by a dog. When asked for refund, they said we had to pay for toast and drinks. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you like awful food...
