The Curious Cat — Restaurant in Canterbury

We chose the Curious Cat for a Mothers Day Sunday roast for 3 of us. Staff were welcoming and after being seated at our table drinks were served quite quickly and our food order taken. Our booking was for 2.30 pm and, granted, probably a busy Sunday though there were empty tables around us, our food arrived at our table at 3.30. Not a problem, though it was stiflingly hot in the restaurant and no visible means of ventilations (no windows to open), so we were feeling a bit uncomfortable. The food was great, good size portions. At 5pm having finished our meal, had coffees and settled the bill, getting ready to leave, a member of staff came to the table to ask us to vacate it, maybe sit in the bar for a drink, (which we didn’t want to do), as in her words, 2 and a half hours was more than enough time to eat a Sunday roast. I’m not normally one to make a comment, very non reactive, but felt the need in this instance, to point out politely that our food arrived one hour after our table booking....

Dogs don’t have thumbs, or I would give this place two thumbs up. Saturday afternoon, I’d just completed my lessons, and the humans were grizzling and hungry. I rang up and booked them a table for three near the kitchen, so I could smell what they were up to in there.

There were biscuits and petting, and I had a nice little lie-down under the table while they went on and on about what was on their dishes. One of them loved his cappuccino, another had something that smelled amazing. They called it Smoked Haddock on Risotto, and I didn’t get a single bite, so it must have been good. I mean REALLY good.

They stayed on for dessert, then somebody called Aaron, who kept bringing them things that made them smile, came back to say goodbye. Apparently his help was everything they needed, because they all said they would be back soon to do it again.

One negative comment - there are entirely too many pictures of cats on the walls. I found it most distressing.

We held my Aunt's wake here today, and we truly couldn't have been more happy with how the Curious Cat hosted it for us.

Everyone commented on the food and how very good and delicious it was.

The staff were all so helpful and sensitive when dealing with us, both on the day and when arranging the details.

I honestly can't fault them at all. It was a very difficult day and the Curious Cat made it all so so much easier.

If I could tell everyone to come here I would.

Thank you all so so much, my Aunt would have loved it all, we will remember the day and the wake, for all the right reasons, and we will be back for Sunday lunch and happier occasions soon!

As an aside, also my sister wished she had seen the function room sooner as she would have chosen it for her wedding!
