A truthful encounter. Went with a friend to have breakfast on a Friday, 13th June and didn’t like the drinks they served or the way one person was handling customers. She pulled a long face when we asked about the menu. She was sighing and rolling her eyes when my friend asked if there’s any vegetarian option for the English breakfast.
While waiting, I saw that the barista used the already used grinded coffee beans to make new cup of cappuccino. She couldn’t press the syrup bottle pump so she poured the syrup straight into the cup.It was too much. I didn’t correct her then as my mind was still processing how to react. And as I thought, when I tasted it, it was very milky ,too sweet and frothy. I didn’t want to stand in the line again to get another cup. The queue was long.
I didn’t know that customer service is this bad in this cafe. I’ve been here many times before not for breakfast but for lunch and tea time. Never had I experienced this kind of service or situation. The ladies were always friendly and helpful. This particular lady definitely didn’t like us or have something wrong with her. I did report her in the end to the manager and the manager was sorry that this happened. The manager was lovely to us and I have seen her before. My friend did get another cup of chai latte because the same barista spilled cinnamon on her cup’s handle and didn’t clean it up. My friend found it unprofessional and gave back the cup and the barista made another one.

Then, still oblivious to waiting customers, started putting pots back in place and emptying rubbish bins. When mentioning the long wait, there was no apology, just an answer of we’ve been busy.
