No I've not gone vegetarian and they are in no way affiliated to that company. 🤣🤣
Todays the last day of #eatouttohelpout with some locations extending into September. After work today, I felt the need to try somewhere a bit more rural. I'm at a lovely country pub which has a quaint and rustic feel to it inside and out. My colleague June tells me its used for weddings and is quite a good place as well as Samantha so I could not resist going to visit.
Entering the pub, I was seated straight away. Sitting outside or on one of the pubs patios attracts a 10% service charge which is understandable given the location. Ample parking was available at this pub.
The menu has a variety of different choices and changes on a weekly basis. I opted for the following:
Starter - Braised ham hock terraine, house pickles and toast I can't comment on the pickles sadly as I am not a fan of them but I absolutely love ham hock😍
It was presented nicely on the plate. The toast was more like sourdough bread which was served warm and was nice and crisp. The ham hock was served chilled and tasted fresh. I had no complaints with this. The salad garnish was a lovely touch to this. The pickles were absent from the plate so they must have read my mind ☺ A nice refreshing dish on a modestly warm day. The napkin provided even had a sticker with the pubs name on it.
Main - Maple glazed duck breast, roasted carrot puree, picked carrots, seasonal veg/potatoes and red wine jus This was cooked perfectly and the duck breast was tender and juicy. This whole meal itself was very filling. The red wine jus I couldn't really taste as such but I don't really drink regularly anyway. As such, no problems also with this meal.
Dessert - Sticky toffee pudding An absolute classic. Though the double chocolate brownie was tempting, I've not had this in a while.
Tasted as expected. Good smooth ice cream. Lovely puds.
In regards to the service, it was very friendly and initially very quick and prompt. The service slightly deteriorated with no check back during the main meal and a wait of over 15 minutes to get cleared away. The restaurant was busy but not overwhelming as such. I would also add that the table I was sat down on did rock a bit when applying a bit of force on the plate as an example.
Covid 19 wise, there's only one entrance going in and out and I only noted one member of staff with any PPE on. Tables were distanced accordingly. Its noted that the table to the left of me had 10 people on it. Merely an observation as such. Sanitising stations were avaliable in that respect but more could be done to make the pub safer in my opinion. When arriving, you are advised to text your details or email with your name and address to facilitate with track and trace.
The meal cost £23 after the discount. Not overly expensive or cheap but reasonable given the nature of the location and type of venue it is.
Overall I would recommend this pub and visit...
Read moreI came with my family to a Easter Lunch yesterday 20th April & was surprised that there was not a what I call as Table d'hote menu as in a 3 course special Sunday lunch menu available, so we had the main menu only for a Sunday Lunch which included a Sunday Roast Dishes which was fine.
Now, bearing in mind I was in hospitality a good few years ago now as a Chef, so I know what I'm talking about here.
Because your Sunday Roast Dishes are far too large a portion for most customers of your restaurant & for me. So I had decided to have a child's portion of a Sunday roast which the portion size was just fine for me.
You may want to give it a go to give the customer a choice of a large Sunday Roast or a Standard Size Sunday Roast & reduce the price accordingly on the Standard Size Sunday Roast. Not everyone wants large portion sizes !! it will also cut down on food waste too !! with foods left on the plate due to its portion size.
My child size portion Chicken Roast Dish arrived after my first course of the soup of the day which was presented to me with a very flat Yorkshire pudding which incidentally I did not want.(need to ask the question at point of ordering if I would like one or not, stops food waste again ! )
So we move on to the remainder of the dish and the Chicken breast was fine & well cooked, However my roast potato's were black & overcooked together the vegetables of the same, over cooked & not crunchy vegetables which is the way they should be cooked ! So to that end I suggest you have conversations with your Chef's on how to improve on the customer experience at The Manor Quorn. Finally, the ladies that took our orders & served us our meals were very good at what they did for us during our time at the...
Read moreWe had an absolutely amazing wedding at the Manor House in Quorn!
I had a list of requirements for the venue and it was perfect for all of them! We wanted the whole day all in one place so the ceremony and reception together. We also wanted lots of space inside (incase it was cold) and outside (incase it was hot). We also wanted food that was more us so we choose the BBQ which was delicious! We also wanted local beer and a few ciders that I preferred and the venue was great at organising that for us. We also wanted a live band and there was plenty of space for them. This venue met all these requirements.
They went above and beyond expectations in lots of ways! The staff were so lovely, friendly and polite, they provided outdoor games and they were so prompt with replying to my emails! Dionne and Sian were brilliant on the day and even helped the bridesmaids do a little surprise for me without me knowing anything. They did a great job of making sure the groom didn't see me too early. They also let me add all my decorations and let me hang 1000 cranes from the ceiling.
The team at the pub were also lovely and friendly and we had a few meals there that were delicious too!
We stayed over in the hotel rooms the night before and on the wedding and the rooms were stunning, spotless and perfect for getting ready on the wedding morning. We also needed a downstairs room for my granny with mobility issues which was perfect and they provided kids beds too for family.
My wedding day was perfect thanks to the team and the...
