My family and I decided to visit Harvester in Chelmsford for a casual Sunday lunch, primarily to cater to my child's hunger. I was looking for a place close to Nando's, and Harvester seemed to be a good choice. Little did we know that our experience would far exceed our expectations, leaving us with a lasting impression of excellent service and great food.
Upon arrival, the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly to both my child and me. They provided my kid with their own menu, crayons, and other little touches that made her feel special. I would like to especially mention our server, Kim, who went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. Despite it being a sunny Sunday afternoon, she exuded warmth and attentiveness, ensuring that our experience was nothing short of fantastic.
The entire team at Harvester was accommodating and eager to help, regardless of our requests. This exceptional service truly set the tone for our enjoyable meal. The salad bar was pristine and well-stocked, with each ingredient in its proper place. The attention to detail and cleanliness was commendable, and it was clear that the staff took pride in maintaining this high standard.
The food itself was delightful. My child enjoyed the kids' meal, which was both tasty and great value. She particularly loved the "build your own sundae" dessert option. As for my meal, I had a chicken wrap that was satisfying and enjoyable.
Our experience at Harvester in Chelmsford was a pleasant surprise. The warm and professional service from the staff, particularly Kim, left a lasting impression on us. We would definitely return to this establishment and recommend it to others looking for a friendly, family-oriented dining experience. Thank you, Harvester, for making our Sunday lunch a truly...
Read moreVisited at around 18:30 Sunday evening, 3 of us were shown to a table and informed it would not be table service and we would need to order at the bar instead. It was also a table for two with a third chair tacked on the side in front of a betting machine. There were more comfortable and better seats available but this is what we got. There were squashed chips on the floor underneath the table and by our chairs which we had to clean up ourselves with napkins. The back door was constantly being opened which blew a freezing wind over us; it was not pleasant, one of our party had to put her coat on as her arms were so cold and her teeth were chattering. As for the food, steak was ordered medium but came well done. The burger was so dry it felt as though it had been cooked for hours and all moisture drawn from it, couldn’t eat half of the burger, absolutely dreadful, in fact I would go so far as to say it was the worst burger I can ever remember eating. When the ice cream was served it had been scooped into a hot bowl straight front the dishwasher and so it was half melted when it got to the table- it was just thoughtless.
As for the gents I am not sure they have ever been cleaned…..they were absolutely rank with snot wiped on the wall above the urinals and the porcelain so stained that it reminded me of a very unpleasant loo in Africa I once had the misfortune of using. The black mold below the hand dryer is a public health hazard.
The staff seemed pleasant enough but I didn’t like the venue. It needs serious refurbishment and the food was...
Read moreWhere do I start? Firstly, within 2 minutes of sitting down a waitress came to clean the table next to us. This table had a mixture of coke, ice, melted ice and food all over it. Firstly she sprayed some kind of cleaner on top of it all which I thought was odd, then she swept everything off the table onto the floor!! She then carried on wiping the table with the cloth which was now soaked in cleaner, water and coke. Then she picked up two napkins and dried it!! Not exactly hygienic and I'm sure, not the way she was taught. Didn't get her name but young, long dark hair, dressed in black. We had the festive dinner which I have to say was pretty poor. How can you cook peas al dente yet make them completely tasteless? I'm sure everything came from the freezer. I know you get what you pay for but we had the festive dinner last year and it was far better. Shortly after being served our mains, the same waitress came by and my wife asked for extra cranberry sauce. As soon as she walked away we looked at each other and said, she we be back and sure enough she wasn't!! Another waitress who'd actually been a lot more attentive (Patsy? I think) came by so we asked her and she brought some over. For the desserts my wife had the profiteroles which were very nice but I had the Christmas pudding which was embarrassingly small. About two mouthfuls!! Tasty granted but tiny. Overall, last year's festive meal was good enough that we came back, this time....we definitely...
