The Essex County Police Force Museum is small but there is quite a bit packed in. Loads of objects on display including truncheons, uniforms, and equipment from different points in the history of Essex policing. There is a good amount of information on each of the exhibits, a mock up crime scene, uniform to dress up in, a craft area for the kids and even a mock up of a police station cell (so there's somewhere to leave the kids!) The museum is located on the force's HQ site, it's a bit out of the way but not too bad.

The museum is small but they have crammed a fair amount in, and made it as friendly as possible for the small people visiting. Your not likely to be there hours, but its certainly worth a look if in the area. Kids particularly enjoyed doing their fingerprints and using a light and magnifying glass to look at...

Have attempted a visit to the museum twice now, last Saturday the sign on the door said opening postponed until this week and surprise surprise this week the sign says opening postponed until next Saturday 27th January 2024! No update on the website and in fact the website clearly states that the museum has now re-opened.
