Katey's Coffee Shop — Restaurant in Chesterfield

I visit here quite a bit, sometimes twice a day if I'm heading for a Rother Valley Park cycle run. The service is great, the food is great and they have plenty of seats to sit down on to watch the barge go back and forth taking passengers back to the Chesterfield hub. You will mostly find it quite busy with walkers and cyclists, especially if the weather is warm and sunny. I've ticked 'dine in' as it didn't have an option for sitting outside and 'other' can be anything from sweet tea, black coffee, bacon sandwich or buttered fruit scones and various cakes. Get there early if you want those items because they go very quickly!! I MUST add this information about the barge. They do fantastic 'Meet Santa' barge trips around Christmas time. For many years it was always a toss the coin up to either having a barge journey or the Santa train just passed Two Dales. Both were great experiences. I hope...

Always a pleasure to go into Katey's. Fresh cooked food and such fabulously tasty cakes and treats. You'll really enjoy the food here. A decent cuppa too wether it's coffee or tea it will be a good one here. We had a hot meal followed by homemade cake (although there wasn't really room for it) We know that it's good food. Not a massive menu but people are only there for things like a cooked breakfast or a sandwich/cob. No one is expecting a 3 course meal as they're in the cafe as they will be walking or cycling along the canal, or maybe going on one of the narrow boats. We have been using the Hub for several years and always pop into Katey's for food and drink. Sometimes we're so full we will take our cake home with us to enjoy later..... Why not give it a try,sit in the sun and...

The three stars are awarded for the politeness of our waitress, the location and one of the dishes (all day breakfast was good but the toastie was disappointing). Unfortunately we were initially told we had a 20 minute wait but this became 1hr 15min! The waitress was very calm and polite when reminded but the issue seemed to be in the kitchen. I suggested some compensation/reduction and we got a mug of tea OR a piece of cake. Nevertheless, great location, good value and clean throughout but avoid holidays...
