I wouldn’t ordinarily write a review for a fast food establishment; my view is you kinda have to hope it’s ok. However, this KFC is something else. How was the food today? Not a clue. Having waited at the window to pay for over 5 minutes I gave up. The spotty blonde haired cashier did take the time to ignore my existence completely which was nice, and was very keen to shout several times in shock that there were now 7 cars in the drive-thru queue. I saw what was presumably a manager walking past her at this point, I think it was a manager but in all honestly she looked not dissimilar to the Little Mermaids Ursula. I did wonder why Ursula would work at KFC generally, and one in Chesterfield (being particularly land locked) but perhaps the 90’s royalties have dried up- a girls got to eat I guess. In any case Ursula seemed relatively underwhelmed about the situation but did show overwhelming solidarity with the cashier by also failing to acknowledge me or my now outstretched hand ready to pay for some over priced chicken. In the end I resigned myself to the neighbouring Golden Arches; having been served and leaving their forecourt I could see the car that was waiting behind me still waiting....them poor unfortunate souls.
This KFC has consistently messed up my orders but now they seem to have given up serving all together. I just want to be part of your world KFC duckmanton...but it looks like it’s...

I've often wondered why this KFC is always empty, and now I think I know why.
It feels like the staff are there under duress, and I honestly felt uncomfortable with how sullen everyone was - everyone! I know it's impossible to be full-on smiley all the time when you're working in eateries as it's hard work, but my goodness, I felt like I was disturbing them with my order.
Our order was just shoved in the bag, which was squished to close it, which was a bit weird and we were waiting for ages for a drink that we'd ordered and milk for my drink.
We re-entered the restaurant to use the loo after putting the food in the car and I'm so glad we did as the smell in the ladies was mind-blowing. Please excuse this description but it smelt like unemptied sanitary bins with ammonia. Luckily I only needed to wash my hands so I could keep the door propped open as my eyes were stinging. I did feel like I was dirtier after coming out, though.
I don't know what is happening with regards to staff morale here as the environment it creates is extremely noticeable.
The food was only ok as the chicken smelled of reused/stale cooking oil but the chips were...
Read moreMy initial review was good. This is an edit to reflect the current level of service here, and is based on multiple visits over the course of a few months.
The staff here are slow at everything. From taking an order, to preparing it, you will not find slower service anywhere. When you eventually recieve your order, it will likely be wrong, so check it over thoroughly before taking a seat. If you find you have items missing, get the manager involved, and have them remake the whole order, because by the time they've made your missing items, the rest of you food will be cold.
If by some miracle they manage to get your order right the first time, and you sit down with warm food, it's actually pretty good, and does meet the usual KFC standard. But don't hold your breath, because this is a rare occurrence.
Also, if it's raining, don't use the drive through. They have no shelter at all over the order intercom, or the windows. You, your car, and your food, will get wet.
If I could, this would be a zero star review. But unfortunately that...
