The Spa Lane Vaults - JD Wetherspoon — Restaurant in Chesterfield

Totally split opinion on this place. Been a few times, the pizza is AMAZING. (Bit annoying that they don't cut it before serving) However the burger that I had was probably the worst thing I've ever bought in my entire life. It looked like it had been cooked hours before and sat waiting for someone to order. It was dry, hard and just super gross. Service is hit and miss. The staff are friendly enough but we ordered food and specifically requested for plain burger, no salad no sauces no onion rings. Just bread burger, cheese, bacon, bread and chips. Even though I specifically asked, exactly as written above, it still came out with onion rings, pickles and sauce. Super annoying in any circumstances but when you are out with young people who have autism and learning disabilities, things like this can trigger a negative behaviour. Hence why I am explicitly clear when ordering and always confirm before paying. Yet somehow, between going from the bar to the table the request was lost and instead we had a VERY stressful time instead of the nice enjoyable meal we had planned.

They have salt now which is good. For months there was no salt available which ruins a meal for most people. However they didn't have any fizzy soft drinks or pasta last time either.

Haven't eaten food here, so can't comment on that....but, called in for a drink, it was nice, great atmosphere & helpful staff. It was in the daytime, it was even nice for me just going in alone to have a latte & just sit & chill out scrolling on my phone. I didn't feel awkward going in on my own, or sitting on my own there. And I like that any hot drink like lattes, you get a cup to take to the coffee machine & u pay once & can keep refilling it...well worth it! I personally only wanted 1 this time, but it's definitely a nice extra. And I like that they have their own little car parking space at the back...IF there's a space, which, in the daytime on a week day, there always usually is, which are the only times I've ever been. Last time, I went there with my Mum, while my cars air-con was being refilled across at Kwik Fit...she's disabled, with a walking frame/rollator & there is a disabled access door, with no steps...cos the other entrances have steps, but not until you're already inside, so u have to look for the 1 without steps after u get inside! We made that mistake...

Visited today with friends from work. At 16:31 I ordered a simple Tennessee chicken burger via the Wetherspoons app, after clicking for payment the order didn’t process. I tried a second time and success the order and payment went through! However, I quickly noticed the app had added a second duplicate meal onto the transaction? Confused, I went straight over to a member of staff, who happened to be the manager on duty, stood by the kitchen door a few feet away. He said let me check in the kitchen and at 16:32 he said it was all being prepared and nothing could be reversed or changed. I can only think everything is made fresh seconds from ordering? I explained, I did not order the meal, their app added it onto the transaction. He completely refused to help/give me a refund and ridiculously I ended up with two meals.

Overall, it’s not really the £9 odd they robbed from me but the principle of it. I can only think they must be very desperate to sell a below average cheap burger? I look forward to continuing this matter further with DEFRA and...
