30/8/24 Stayed in Bracklesham Bay and as this was 5 minutes down the road decided to have dinner at Billy’s one night. I had fish and chips with mushy peas. Only moan I have is that the peas were minted, and I’m not a fan of them. Cost was £15.95. The fish was cooked really well with plenty of crispy batter. Fries were excellent and I preferred these to the chunky chips that were on offer. It is a small place and they squeeze you in which made it quite warm in the room even with the door/windows open. I’ve taken a star off of the service due to the fact that I felt we were being rushed to have our meal. The only booking time left was 8pm on the Friday, and it closes at 9pm. Just felt that some of the staff wanted us out as quickly as possible!! Above all though I liked it there, they have a decent menu to choose from and would go back again.

Arrived at the beach early in the morning on 9th Sept 20. A glorious day, weather wise, was beginning and we were peckish but Billy's wasn't open yet so we went for a walk along the beach to create an even bigger appetite. Got back to Billy's just as it was opening at 9am. Despite Google saying it doesn't do dine in....it does. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who took our temperatures and showed us to a table. We had freshly cooked mackerel fillets. Then off for another jaunt along the beach west to the Hinge at East Head Spit and back. By this time more people had arrived and the place was a little busier and Billy's outside catering van was in full swing too. So, after a dip in the sea we had fish and chips from the van which were great. Highly recommend a visit to either food outlet.

What can I say about my experience at Bill’s? The fish and chips were, quite frankly, some of the best I’ve ever tasted. We couldn’t sit inside the restaurant because it was fully booked, and being lunchtime, there was quite a wait. So, we opted to order from the mobile van in front of the restaurant instead. The service was excellent—everything was ticketed, so we just waited for our number to be called, collected our food, and sat at the picnic tables provided. As expected with British seaside weather, it was sunny but very windy. Despite that, everyone had a smile on their face. I’ll definitely be visiting Bill’s again, as the restaurant looked very appealing and cosy. I’ll just make sure to avoid the lunchtime rush next time. Thanks, guys!

Waited for around an hour to be told our food had been binned.

We went yesterday with our dogs and the place was busy so we sat on the benches a few yards away from the front seating. We asked if this was ok/if there’d be an issue and we were told that it’d be all alright and that they’d call out when our order was ready.

We heard the call for our tea and had that but then we began waiting for our food.

There was a sign that said to be patient and so we waited longer than usual for our food. We kept seeing employees coming out and giving others their orders, there was a woman on a bench next to us who received hers alright. Never saw them come out with more than 2 boxes (there were 3 of us and at least one of us was keeping an eye and ear out at all times) and they never called out our name after the tea so we kept waiting.

After around an hour and beginning to get chilly as well as very hungry (and the dogs getting restless too), we asked when our order would be ready and we were told that it’d been called and binned.

Again, we had watched and listened for about an hour. It seems either our order had been forgotten or they hadn’t actually brought it out (we had ordered over £40 worth of food so it’s unreasonable to think we’d leave after paying so much and, again, we’d successfully got our tea so it wasn’t a case of not being able to hear).

Manager accepted what happened. We were refunded for the food that we never got and had to go elsewhere to grab a quick snack before we had to be somewhere else (arrived around half 1- time stamped picture after we arrived was at 13:22- and had to leave around 3pm so that we could be somewhere on time for 4pm).

In the end we didn’t get to eat properly until half 5pm so this was a huge disappointment.

Tea was alright. Just seems to be an issue in remembering/checking orders and not double checking if they got their food/if they’re still there (aka I’m sure that if an employee had actually gone out and then came back in with £40 worth of food, then a manager or someone else would have gone back out to double check but that never happened).

Huge shame and big disappointment. Won’t be coming back and will warn others that this could happen to them (no one wants to wait for possibly over an hour to...

Had heard really good things about this place so booked for my Fiancé’s birthday. We sat down and everybody’s food looked amazing. The garlic mozzarella focaccia and calamari starters were lovely. When it came to ordering mains they had run out of mussels so my partner ordered the ribeye steak and I ordered the bacon cheeseburger. My partners food was perfect, well cooked and the steak was soft. My burger however, was completely bright red raw in the middle. I have no problem with a burger being a little pink but it was totally cold and red. When the waiter came over we explained the issue and he said he would take it to the kitchen to show them. He came back, offered no apology and just said the kitchen probes all the meat so it won’t make you ill. I knew that it wasn’t going to make me ill but it was the principle of them giving me a raw burger. They didn’t do anything to rectify the problem. When we asked for the bill, the waiter took 20% off the cost of the burger (not the total bill) and said ‘I know it’s not a lot, but every little helps right?’ I don’t blame the waiter, he was young and probably wasn’t trained to deal with complaints as the food is normally very good. Overall we should have had an apology from the chef and I would have expected something to be done to rectify the situation. Unfortunately we...

Have been several times before but was a disappointment this time.

Small table in the corner for four adults, a high chair and a buggy when the table had been booked with that information the day before.

Was very busy when we arrived but quiented down, (11.30ish) and there were at least eight staff working no more than five or six tables. Order was taken for drinks from memory, then forgotten and came back and asked for it again. Then when it arrived was wrong and missing two drinks and tea with no milk.

Tablet used to take the food order was broken so spent five minutes trying to fix it rather than just use paper.

Food then arrived and was breakfasts with missing sausages, beans and one portion arrived five minutes after all the others. Poached eggs were cooked through so essentially boiled.

Felt quite stupid having suggested to friends who had travelled from Essex that we go, as we have often forgiven the slow service for good food, but not sure it will be worth the effort again.

Also felt sorry for the waiter as he was taking the brunt of the issues which seemed to be stemming from the kitchen and problems elsewhere with communication and technology.

Pleasant location and food itself was fine, but do feel that the former is a driver for being what attracts people, but the experience was pretty...
