I’ve always lived in Whittle, Ley inn always being a local pub of mine. I’ve had food here in the past which was lovely. I’ve also been here for a drink many times. This has ended after the man on the bar tried to make me feel stupid on Thursday saying my driving licence ID was fake, shouting at the top of his voice to the whole pub. I tried to explain I’m 21 and this ID is my driving licence and he wouldn’t have any of it. (This was because the writing of my name on it was slightly worn down due to me having this ID since 17 and being in the back of my phone case..). He went to double check my ID with his manager as I was insistent that this is my real ID! He came back and served me, constantly saying I need a new ID (you only renew them every 10 years, there’s bound to be wear and tear along the way) as well as constantly calling me “love” and belittling me (even though he was probably a couple years older than me). The girl next to him who was serving was lovely, no issues with her. But safe to say I won’t be returning to the Ley Inn from this staff member alone. Never felt so uncomfortable and...

Food was excellent for the money paid in my opinion however there was a few things that let this place down massively. My partner has a gluten allergy so when ordering she let them know. The server didn't seem to know anything about gluten intolerance substitutes so had to go to the kitchen 3 times to check. After this we decided to order a dessert. The dessert we picked was labeled as GF (gluten free). When I came out it was covered in what looked like waffle shavings. We called a different server over and had the same blank face when we mention gluten free. She took the dessert back to the kitchen and came out with a different one. The fact they have labelled this as GF and not GFA (gluten free alternative) is appalling. My partner is bed bound if her food is cross contaminated by a crumb so if she had eaten this believing the menu I honestly can't explain the pain she would been in. I know I have given a 3 star review and that is because the food we had was very nice and excellent value for money. The staff and menu are the only things letting this place down. So just be aware to if you...

I’m going home soon, and was treated to a meal and drinks by my sister and brother in law. We arrived at around 6-30 pm, and sat outside for a short while, as the sun was shining! We wet inside, and found a table near the entrance and window, we checked out the menu, then noticed a little note on our table, offering a choice of 3 mains for a tenner each. Well, there was 3 of us! So we ordered all 3 lol and some drinks. It has a lovely family atmosphere, as it was early, there were a few children present, who were w ell catered for, with a safe play area outside.our waitress brought our food, and I was surprised at the quality! I had Thai green curry, and boiled rice, with green vegetables, I can honestly say it’s one of the nicest I’ve tasted! Big portion, too, and I’m a big eater! So well happy! After our food, which was enjoyed by all three, we went outside to finish our drinks and chat, all together a short visit, but will definately be returning when I visit again next year. Oh, and the staff were amazing too! What more...

Our new local, 5 min drive from our house, 20 min walk. Just been today for the first time, had lunch with our little boy - he didn't have much of an appetite as he was tired but I tasted his children's pasta and garlic bread and it was lovely. I had the Prawn Marie Rose sandwich with a side of chips - it was lovely, fresh soft bread and a lovely side salad with it too. Hubby had the Asian Chicken Wings with a side of chips, and he said his was lovely too. The pub is very cosy, clean, staff are friendly and very accommodating. There is a little outdoor seating area too. I think they used to have a children's play area outside but that doesn't seem to be there any more - they probably took it down to make room for more outdoor seating during the pandemic. Overall a nice little pub and we will look forward to coming back over the years to come.

Visited tonight for a meal with a friend. Large car park with plenty of parking. The staff were super friendly, the service was spot on and the food wow, just wow! The black pudding starter was exceptionally good. I had the beef chilli chimichanga for my main, I swapped out the fries for homemade chips and I'm so glad that I did they were lovely! The portion was huge, I couldn't finish it all... was looking forward to sticky toffee pudding for dessert but there was no way I could have fit one in! 100% recommend and I'll definitely be back for that sticky toffee pudding!

A lovely little, very old (with updated decor), established pub that we've visited often. Today we opted to sit outside and dine as we had pet dogs with us. I opted for the lasagne and my partner the steak pudding, both meals were lovely. Not far from Cuerden Valley Park (also known as Cuerden Country Park), maybe a nice end to a long country walk.
