I’ve always lived in Whittle, Ley inn always being a local pub of mine. I’ve had food here in the past which was lovely. I’ve also been here for a drink many times. This has ended after the man on the bar tried to make me feel stupid on Thursday saying my driving licence ID was fake, shouting at the top of his voice to the whole pub. I tried to explain I’m 21 and this ID is my driving licence and he wouldn’t have any of it. (This was because the writing of my name on it was slightly worn down due to me having this ID since 17 and being in the back of my phone case..). He went to double check my ID with his manager as I was insistent that this is my real ID! He came back and served me, constantly saying I need a new ID (you only renew them every 10 years, there’s bound to be wear and tear along the way) as well as constantly calling me “love” and belittling me (even though he was probably a couple years older than me). The girl next to him who was serving was lovely, no issues with her. But safe to say I won’t be returning to the Ley Inn from this staff member alone. Never felt so uncomfortable and...
Read moreFood was excellent for the money paid in my opinion however there was a few things that let this place down massively. My partner has a gluten allergy so when ordering she let them know. The server didn't seem to know anything about gluten intolerance substitutes so had to go to the kitchen 3 times to check. After this we decided to order a dessert. The dessert we picked was labeled as GF (gluten free). When I came out it was covered in what looked like waffle shavings. We called a different server over and had the same blank face when we mention gluten free. She took the dessert back to the kitchen and came out with a different one. The fact they have labelled this as GF and not GFA (gluten free alternative) is appalling. My partner is bed bound if her food is cross contaminated by a crumb so if she had eaten this believing the menu I honestly can't explain the pain she would been in. I know I have given a 3 star review and that is because the food we had was very nice and excellent value for money. The staff and menu are the only things letting this place down. So just be aware to if you...
Read moreI’m going home soon, and was treated to a meal and drinks by my sister and brother in law. We arrived at around 6-30 pm, and sat outside for a short while, as the sun was shining! We wet inside, and found a table near the entrance and window, we checked out the menu, then noticed a little note on our table, offering a choice of 3 mains for a tenner each. Well, there was 3 of us! So we ordered all 3 lol and some drinks. It has a lovely family atmosphere, as it was early, there were a few children present, who were w ell catered for, with a safe play area outside.our waitress brought our food, and I was surprised at the quality! I had Thai green curry, and boiled rice, with green vegetables, I can honestly say it’s one of the nicest I’ve tasted! Big portion, too, and I’m a big eater! So well happy! After our food, which was enjoyed by all three, we went outside to finish our drinks and chat, all together a short visit, but will definately be returning when I visit again next year. Oh, and the staff were amazing too! What more...
