We were looking for a local place for Sunday lunch that wasn't all roast dinners. After checking out a few other menus online, we were tempted in by the 2 course deal. Phoned Saturday evening to book. Partner had the haggis & black pudding to stadt, said it was the best starter he's ever had. I had the scampi, which I enjoyed because it's not often seen as a starter. Partner had the roast dinner with extra meat, I had the steak casserole in giant yorkishire pudding. Both meals delicious and neither of us could finish them. Really lovely little place, just a bit lacking in atmosphere but I think that was down to us dining fairly early in the day.

Cannot comment on food as I was just calling in after a mission to an angling tackle shop. Great selection of beers, super atmosphere, and a warm Welcome Currently on a break in the heat of the day. After visiting Coppul Anglers for tackle supplies and some maggots for when the grandson comes visiting at Heskin Old Hall fishery Thursday. Could not pass the ‘Original Farmers Arms’ as I needed change for all the honesty boxes on this A49 tour (now calling it part 1 as there is so much to cover). Whilst refreshing myself I asked ‘why is it called the ‘Original’? Answer was ‘because it is the original one in the village’ It is good to be ‘ome 😅

First time after driving past for many years and it was lovely! Lots of space as pub is sectioned into restaurant area and bar/drinks area lots of specials on the board and updated menu as to what is previously online. Service was great and on top of everything, recommending meals and also giving advice about best options of what can be combined into the set meal options. Would say with the options that are on the menu for main courses, a few of the side options that you get to choose to add, don’t really go with a few of the meals so you feel like you are ordering something for the sake of it but very good options available

Not been here for a few years and past experience was always good...But not today. Had baby with us and she needed changing but baby changing facilities is in the same room as the ladies toilets so nowhere for dad's to change babies..my misses took the baby and came straight back as she was very unhappy to change her in grubby toilets right next to cubicles and close to door for toilets. We ordered two mixed grills which were OK..apart from one of them the steak was not cooked correctly and both meals the black puddings smelt and tasted very wrong..like the were out of date. Upon being asked when our plates were removed how our meals were.we told the guy about them he said he would check the stock dates and gave us the impression he would return to explain this..but he didn't..we made out way to pay and leave the girl at the till who was also serving tables asked us if things were OK.We explained again politely about the black puddings to which she didn't seem to care much at all. End of the day nearly 50 quid for two mixed grills two cokes and a peppercorn sauce you expect a better experience and quality. Over all sum up of our experience here is not great and things have gone down hill here.

Waitress looked miserable, dodgy black puddings,no decent baby changing facilitie, not very well cooked food that was only worth a half of what we payed...we won't...

After spending some time in nearby Bygone Times we decided to have a bar lunch here as it is a long time since we had visited. It will be a very long time until we visit again! I ordered a pint of Bombardier - when the seething in the glass finished the head was more than 20mm deep. By this time we were seated and there were no bar staff to be seen - not that anybody should have to ask for a head this size to be topped up. My wife ordered Lasagne - when it arrived the serving lady cautioned that the dish was hot - but the middle of the food was anything but. I was offered Tartare Sauce to go with my fish and chips but it never arrived. Again nobody to be seen to complain to. In the first place there should be no expectation that there would be anything to complain about and certainly not that when there is you have to chase around looking for somebody. When we paid the bill and was asked if everything was satisfactory the person taking our money was not interested when we listed our dissatisfaction. All in all - pretty awful service and attitude. They have no concept of customer care. I will be spending my money...

My family have been visiting here for many many years, but I think today's visit will be the last time.

Admittedly the visit was on a cold midweek lunchtime, but even so, there was absolutely no atmosphere in the place. Only1 other couple seated in the restaurant and another pair of gentlemen in the bar area. There was music but it was on so low you could barely here it. The venue was silent for all intense purposes.

The food was very average, you would think they know serving vegetables in a cold dish will make them go cold very quickly, but apparently not. One of us had lamb but it was quite tough and only warm, whilst the other had a tower burger which contained the densest burger I have ever tasted, it was the texture of a potato!

Not sure how often the "specials" board is updated but a photo on Google a few weeks ago had exactly the same specials as today!

It's sad to see this once great establishment look so unloved and desperately in need of an overhaul. The best thing about the visit was the pint...
