Corbie Takeaway — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

Have had 3 experiences with Corbie, none of them good.

We went into the shop to order something, no one else was there, we waited for a minute to see if someone would ask us for our order. No one did. We hollered at some of the people behind the counter that was making orders. We were ignored completely... We just ended up getting out of there with nothing.

We ordered online, 2 burgers, the burgers were burnt to a crisp, the burgers were properly black, some of the worst burgers we've had.

Again a delivery order, a doner kebab for me and a fish and chips for the missus. Tasted... Okay. So that's an improvement, but definitely not great. The kebab was also very tiny. And no chips, but didn't expect any to be fair. And the chili sauce was no good, tasted very vinegary.

The fish and chips was not much better from what I understood, had some of the chips, not alot of them in there, they weren't great a bit soggy. Fish I didn't have any but the missus thought it was "pretty sh-t".

We also had to call this last time to see if they even got our order because it had been well over an hour, we were told they didn't have it. But just a minute later the delivery guy showed up at the door. He was not particulary appreciative of the tip I gave him either. Many tend to be, but he not so much.

Oh yeah, the prices are also way too high for what you get, which isn't much. So yeah, not gonna buy any more...

Ordered Calamari rings and Fish, both suppers. Calamari had to be cooked to order which was understandable but when ready the fryer didn't tell the server. Place was busy so stood there for at least 10 mins watching other people get their food first. When another server eventually noticed we had been waiting there was no apology so we won't hurry back. To cap it all the chips were nothing special, however the fish and calamari were good only to be spoiled by soggy batter. Why wrap them with the chips and spoil what looked like lovely crisp batter when they came out of the fryer? Sadly they're not the only chippy guilty of this practice. Also they used polystyrene boxes - another poor practice in these anti-plastic days. All chip shop owners should be made to visit Moore's chippy in Castle Douglas to see how it should be done ! Best tasting crisp fish batter ever, even better than Anstruther and that's saying something. Served in a cardboard box with a separator between fish and chips - simples. And the queuing system is efficient, you even get a number rather than the haphazard system used in most busy chippies. When you've been to the best, all others are a let-down sadly. Just a pity we don't...

Ordered food for the first time in a long time and it will defiantly be the last. Had to call back when I realized my juice wasn’t delivered, then had to call back again when I was plating up as there was no pepperoni in the “HOT AND SPICY PEPPERONI CHILLI” pasta.

When I called back I was told “you had to specify if you want the pepperoni in your pasta” so I was given a tomato based tagletelli with chilli fakes for £6? I reluctantly got off the phone and rechecked just eat, to my amazement the description states “PEPPERONI AND CHILLI” no option to select the meat only what type of pasta you would like.

I then called back again baring in mind the rest of my family were eating by now, the girl on the phone tried to explain to another girl arguing back and forward like children about what justeat says. Another male in the back ground with an accent was arguing as well “what’s the problem what’s the problem” yet didn’t come to the phone just wanted to challenge me through the other members of staff. Horrific customer service, can’t get an order right and clearly don’t know what their menu actually sells.

Safe to say I’ll be sticking to my usual, this chippy...
