Great idea for a restaurant, but an utterly grotesque experience all round. The place itself is kind of what you might imagine the bar of a dart's tournament to look like - but not in an 'oh-this-is-novel' kind of way. There are red swirly carpets, slot machines galore and randomly selected pictures of C-list celebrities on the walls. Queues of carnivorous hopefuls with school dinner-style trays wait in a line down to the toilets, to get their £9.99 deal. Once you reach the hot plate destination, you're greeted by three choices; turkey, beef or pork. To the eye, they look passable, but the sorry-looking veg could easily be prison food, with bits of stray peas that have jumped ship into the mash adding to the tone of the withered and pathetic 'display' of garnish that surrounds the hot plates. The worst let down though is the food. God. Biting into the beef it was clear that this animal had not had a good life, or death. There's a good possibility the establishment got a job lot of poor, spent dairy cows and hoped their cold gravy could cover up how heniously awful it is. Unfortunately, neither the gravy or the veg could save such sub-standard meat and I managed two mouthfuls before binning it. The pork and Turkey were apparently worse, but I didn't...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Toby Carvery Lauriston Farm, Edinburgh, and from the moment I walked in, I was met with a warm and friendly reception from Erin. Her welcoming smile and attentive nature made me feel right at home. It was evident that there is a strong focus on service here, as Erin took the time to explain how to get served and provided a detailed overview of the menu options.
When I arrived at the counter, I was greeted by an impressive spread that immediately captured my attention. Liam, who is obviously passionate about the carvery, did an outstanding job in presenting the dishes. His enthusiasm was infectious and truly enhanced the dining experience.
The quality and attention to detail in the food were remarkable. The spread included a variety of vegetarian dishes alongside perfectly roasted meats and golden crisp Yorkshire puddings. Each dish delivered in both presentation and taste, exceeding my expectations.
Overall, my experience at Toby Carvery Lauriston Farm, Edinburgh, was exceptional. The combination of delicious food and outstanding service from Erin and Liam makes this place a must-visit. I can easily recommend this restaurant and its wonderful staff to anyone looking for a memorable...
Read moreLauriston Farm is doing everything they can to keep customer and Staff safe. I found the waiting very long but I suppose there is not much more they can do although if they had designated staff members at the three stations 1. The carving hand over to next station split between 2 people first the selection of potatoes then onto 3rd for the vegetable selection. I think it may make a difference but obviously there may be reasons why it wouldn't work that I dont know about. Also I was getting extremely annoyed with a female staff member who constantly chatted to the young man trying to cut the meat up and he was trying to pay attention to the customer and how he wa cutting the meat but she just carried on and I think it was a surprise when she realised the size of the queue that was waiting. I'm all for members of staff being happy in their job but respect for your customer was not an interest to her thankfully she was the only member of staff that let the side down. It wont put us off we enjoyed our meal and most of our experience with you...
