Visited for a birthday meal and wasn't the best experience to say the least. Booked a table as we had a large party (12 people). Staff told us not to turn up any earlier as table wouldn't be free. Turned up at the booking time to be told table still wasn't ready. 40 mins later we finally got our table - no apology or update during this time, just left to wait in the bar. Finally sat down and ordered drinks, however another tables drinks order came to us. After being left for another 20 mins or so (an hour after we were supposed to have sat down) we finally had to ask if we could order food to which we got a very unwelcoming response?! Food took quite a while to arrive and staff not very friendly when serving. Fish tacos served to the table as chicken tacos and when asked to double check, staff confirmed was chicken. It was only when the actual chicken tacos came out of the kitchen did another staff member notice the issue and rectify this (good job we hadn't started eating!). Despite all this, we actually ordered desserts and coffees. Ice creams came out half melted (clearly left for ages in the kitchen before serving) and from our table we could see the coffees were made 25 mins before they actually made it to our table (they sat on the bar) - so as you can imagine, these were cold. To top it off, the staff served all the desserts (including to the birthday girl) then came back with a 'special birthday dessert' and served it to someone else on the table with just an 'oops'. Overall we had about 6 different staff members attend to us throughout and ended up being in the restaurant for 3 hours+ for what should have been a simple meal. Food selection and quality average but very expensive given the experience (paying for the location rather than anything else). Overall, wouldn't recommend unless you have a lot of time for a meal and won't be...

We took my sister and her husband for lunch there on Saturday. It was their Xmas present and was the first opportunity when we could all make it. It was very busy and sadly as last time the service was very slow. We actually gave up waiting to pay the bill and headed to the till at the bar so we could leave. The decor and ambience was and always is terrific particularly with the view of the bridges. I even think that it is value for money in terms of prices on the menu. However, the service and now the food has deteriorated in my opinion. I ordered the Korean Cod that came with rice and steamed vegetables. The cod in my view was slightly undercooked however edible and actually tasty. The vegetables on the other hand (pak choi and tenderstem broccoli) were over cooked to the degree that they were inedible to me. It was like an explosion of lukewarm water in your mouth. To be fair to the waitress when she checked that everything was okay offered to get more vegetables for me after having explained what happens during the steaming process and that it should be soft and watery. I declined as there would be no way, given that it was so busy, that it would be coming out of the kitchen anytime soon. Those in our party said that their food was okay. Have to say I was disappointed with this as it was a treat and had hoped for a better review than that from them as I was the one that had raved about the place. They did redeem themselves with the desserts which we all enjoyed.

Feels like there is a staffing issue at Scotts. Not in terms of attitude because everyone is so lovely. They just do not seem to have enough on. I hope they get it sorted soon. Sadly will not be making recommendations......too...

There is really nowhere better to spend a birthday. Scotts Bar & Restaurant in South Queensferry has everything going for it: excellent food, friendly service and exceptional views. It isn't everyday you can admire the fourth bridges whilst tucking into a 3 course meal!

I had heard great things about Scotts from family & friends so thought why not celebrate my 27th birthday in style, I had left it a little late to book online but after a quick phone call to the restaurant they booked us in for 7:30pm the following day. We were down from Aberdeen visiting the area and this pitstop was needed after a full on day of shopping. The location is something special, as soon as you park up the views hit you in an instant, the restaurant itself is so fresh and modern with a nautical theming throughout. They have seating available overlooking the bridges (which require booking in advance as you can expect), the staff are so friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make your visit something special. There is also free on site parking and seating available outside which on the 2 or 3 days of Scottish summer would be spectacular.

If you enjoy an array of different foods, the menu is perfect. There is something for every taste and with generous portion sizes that don't break the bank, there is no way you don't want to add Scotts to your to-do list. I have to say the chipotle chicken tacos and the mac & cheese are definitely ones to try, you just cant get enough of them. If it's a special occasion, date night or just a catch up with the family don't miss out on this South...

1st time for evening meal here. First of all the decor and the service is excellent and the location is world class! Great view of the Bridges. Firstly we had sour dough bread which was like a mini loaf, thinly sliced. Then king prawns Pil Pil which was very nice. The other starter was Pate and this was very nice. Obviously home made. My main was a burger which was in my view average. It was a bit over done and fries (cheese and bacon) were not great. Not much cheese, frozen chips. I have been to many burger places in USA and UK and this was average. My partner had fillet steak and red jus. Steak was asked for medium but came more med rare but this was excellent quality. Her sweet potato fries were over seasoned in her view. So a 9.5 out of 10 for her main. Deserts were very good but my buzzworks sticky toffee sundae was supposed to have merangue bits, but never. At £7.95 not cheap so you would expect all to be there! Ordered 1 drink , never came and was charged for. Removed from Bill no problem. Overall really good meal but not perfect, but it's not been open that long and I am sure the small things will get sorted Staff very good and would have sorted any of these minor issues I am sure info had mentioned. It was a special occasion and I did not want to be making a fuss. The view is worth the trip as well. We will definately go back.

What a great restaurant this is. The four of us dined here the other night. What a fabulous location. Not too difficult to get too and lovely views of the Queensferry crossing and forth road bridge. Inside is very modern and attractive. Staff are very friendly and professional. Toilets are very clean and stylish. Now for the food. The menu has very unique options. I was spoilt for choice. Apparently they regularly change their menu which is good to hear. 3 of the party went with Haggis Bon bons for starts and I went for the chaat. The Bon bons went down a treat although my brother and sister-in-law, who had been before, remembered them being tastier the time before. I loved my chaat dish. All the flavours went well together. For mains I went with this duck dish which was really nice. Duck was cooked perfectly and the sauce was yummy. My wife had the burger which she thought was very tasty. My brother went with the slow cooker lamb I believe which he enjoyed and my sister-in-law had the fish and chips which also went down well. For sides we had onion rings and a Thai sauce which was unreal. For desserts I had the sticky toffee pudding which you can’t really go wrong with and the rest went with pavlova which they all enjoyed. Overall the meal was quite expensive but we are happy to that little bit more for excellent food.
