Great little Scottish pub. Wife and I were there a couple years ago while staying in South Queensferry on a trip to the Open when it was at St. Andrews. Came back on another trip to Edinburgh with more of the family this summer and it was the one place that was already circled when we came back to Scotland from the States. The locals are fun to hang with, the staff is super friendly and the meat pies were the best I've had in two trips to Scotland. The one thing I'd like to point out and give a HUGE thanks for is that we made a reservation for dinner several months in advance and the day and time we reserved was actually a time the kitchen was closed. They actually brought in extra staff to open the kitchen just for us and honored the reservation when they could have easily reached out later and said no. If around the Edinburgh area I'd absolutely recommend stopping here for a pint and some food. The little harbor is just a short walk away and views of the three bridges is worth it. If driving, parking can be tricky but there's a free lot on Rose Ln. - turn in between the pizza shop and Priory church and head...
Read moreDuring an entire 10 day tour through Scotland’s Highlands, this was our first stop, and our very last, and our absolute favorite people we met during our whole trip. You can’t beat this place, you can’t beat the crew. They are an awesome hidden gem and the real deal. After arriving jetlagged and sleeping through dinner time we woke up at 10 PM hungry and thirsty, and two doors down this was the only place we could find open. We closed down the place after drinking whiskey for dinner, and parted ways with the barkeep and the two other local patrons down the cobblestone streets late into the night. Couldn’t of had a better start to our trip. Full circle- We spent a fantastically memorable night on our last day in Scotland drinking copious amounts of whiskey with the local T.W.A.T.S. Instead of returning a rental car which we were supposed to be doing. ¯(ツ)/¯ I’ve never regretted anything less! Hope to come back as soon as possible. Thanks for the...
Read moreAs I was strolling down High Street in South Queensferry; I came across this handsome red façade pub which combined with my appetite did the trick of enticing me in. To cut to the chase, I had a Steak and Ale Pie, washed down with an Erdinger alcohol-free wheat beer. Full marks for the tasty and abundant pie, with a scrumptious thick ale sauce and the large rigged chips! The barman was very polite and provided a professional down to earth service, as he was the only one serving all patrons on that early afternoon. Pub interiors were the classical & genuine stone and wood which make it very welcoming and cosy. WiFi is available too… so, if you are out and about South Queensferry; you know...
