ASDA Cafe — Restaurant in Colchester

I’m a local, so coming in here is usual for me whenever I am down this way. I’ll start with table cleanliness. No matter how many times I come in here, tables are left so untidy and even the floor (as seen in the photo). Flies are common too.

They have two people serving but no cleaner regularly keeping the place hygienic for the customers. Now for serving, they don’t serve you to your table - they shout for you to come up and get your meal. That’s fair, but in a place with dirty floors and food left around, it’s not very pleasant.

They do keep their food covered. But I sometimes feel like the meals are underwhelming.

I had a lovely lady serve me that actually engaged with me for a change, which was about to me the only decent part of my visit here. I don’t know her name - but I’m thankful she put a smile on my face.

I had mac and cheese and chips with a side salad and managed about 5 bites it really wasn't nice, I had to leave it. My partner had Chipotle chicken paninni, it wasn't awful in taste but it was so soggy! Even my hot chocoalte got left we really didn't enjoy it at all. As for service, you're given a table number but then they just shout out your order to go back up and collect it rather than bringing it to your table? Bit rude compared to other cafes...

Absolutely poor service, waited 15 minutes for food only to be given the wrong stuff, when complained some gobby chef gave us a whole load of attitude saying we hadnt been charged when clearly we had. Certainly will not be coming here again, place is dirty, staff are clueless and rude. I would avoid...
