Fusion — Restaurant in Colchester

The food was alright.

However the service from the staff, specifically the server Victoria was HORRIFIC, and felt extremely microagressive.

When we asked her for help while trying to pay with our contactless card (as our order was a large order summing up to £48, and we were not aware there was a limit on orders for contactless payments), when we asked her for her help before coming over she loudly sighed and rolled her eyes towards two of my friends. Both of whom I must mention are also people of colour.

When she came over her tone was extremely condescending, she was unhelpful, did not provide a solution and then just walked away leaving us to come up with a solution ourselves. We decided to split and make multiple payments.

When she brought over our food she did not say anything like “enjoy your meal” or anything expected as standard procedure in customer service despite all of us being like “thank you so much”. ( A table of 7 people of colour )

Additionally she dropped one of our squid items on the floor right next to our table as she brought it over and did not come to clean it up or apologise/ offer a replacement. Despite us pointing this out to her.

Overall the food was okay l, ambience was decent but I was extremely disappointed with our server Victoria.

I have come to fusion several times, both during my time as a student and graduate and I am extremely disappointed at this service we received especially as we had brought our family and friends.

Also the restaurant was practically empty so I can’t even fathom a reason as to why she was so condescending, dismissive and rude other than racist...

Really good food and service, especially for the price. You'll get enough to fill you up and still have some to take out! It's also not too loud most of the time, so you can probably stick around and get some work done if you want. Ordering is really straightforward and discreet too. I personally really like the squid...

A lovely place with accessible prices. It's probably the best place to eat in the uni. I often visit it and the food is always good. Once I came with a friend and she said her ramen tasted burnt, she didn't finish it so I would avoid ordering it. My personal favourite is Sweet chilli...
