I ordered a takeaway via the online system from Rhim Jhim, had been past numerous times and would love to eat in the restaurant but with two kids who are incredibly fussy (and likely to only end up eating chips) we chose what we thought would be the cheaper and safer option in terms of the kids!
Online ordering was OK, it did give the option of delivery but then wouldn't let me progress so I ended up with the collection option. I popped in ASAP as collection and was half expecting an email that confirmed roughly how long, I got confirmation of the order but no timings so I packed up the kids and headed straight over. Staff were nice and pleasant, gave the kids a chocolate while they waited. We did have to wait a little but I really don't mind if its all being cooked fresh.
Whilst I was there I noticed the buffet option with child price starting from 5 yrs, which might have actually ended up a tad cheaper than the takeaway option... although as mentioned earlier this would have probably been a bit of a headache with the kids! On the subject of price, I did think it was a little more on the expensive side compared to other places we have tried in the past. Worth noting that there is no discount for collection, I know some (not all) other places locally do offer this.
In terms of food it was pretty good, I had to do a little clean up when I pulled the tubs out of the bag as there was a bit of oil, but to be fair this isn't unlike most Indian takeaways we have had. Also I tipped the lettuce out on to a plate but then had to move it to another plate as there was a bit of water in the tub that I hadn't noticed... but it shows that it was washed! As some other reviewers have pointed out there wasn't loads of oil sitting on the top of the actual food which was nice. We had a biriyani which comes with a vegetable curry, and I have admit I normally ignore this with an Indian, but this one was actually quite good!
All in all a good experience, would certainly give it another go if we fancied an Indian - and certainly one of the better Indian takeaways...
Read moreIf anyone is thinking of going to this restaurant like me based on the previous "all 5* Reviews," then be prepared to see the worst. Ordered Tikka Briyani on quite Tuesday evening and drove for 6 miles to collect it. The initial impression was not great and not felt welcomed. The staff showed a poor attitude, especially the guy with a white shirt and black tie. Paid for my takeaway and came back home and found out that there were no papadoms, salad, and vegetable sauce - it was just tikka briyani. Called and told them the items were missing and the guy on the phone said they can't deliver as it's far away and next time I get a free dish. There is no next time in this place after all these negative experiences. Am from London and even in most famous restaurants the tikka briyani won't cost £12.50 like here. Based on the reviews, I just want to give a try and see what's so special In this super expensive briyani, but I was disappointed as it didn't taste that good. Being an Indian, I can say this briyani doesn't taste anywhere near that original and authentic briyaniys that I tasted across UK restaurants, and that too they missed additional items that come with it. I only ordered one dish on a quiet Tuesday evening!! The old saying goes here "If you see all 5* reviews, then be cautious."
UPDATE FOR THE REPLY: Am not complaining about the price - am just saying the food is not worth of the price your charging. Excuse me, you get free salad & papodms with all biryani's? And yet again it shows the price you charging is not worth it.. Please see the other Indian restaurants menu all over UK (Especially central London) and you will have full understanding of what the problem is. And with this attitude and service - good...
Read moreWe had a delightful experience at Rim Jhim Spice during our first visit with my vegetarian wife and two of our kids. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming ambiance. The menu had an extensive range of vegetarian options, which was perfect for my wife. She particularly loved the dish recommended by the owner which wasn't on the menu, which was bursting with rich flavors and perfectly cooked. My kids couldn't get enough of the buttery, soft Naan and the delicious lamb and chicken tikka, which had just the right amount of spice for their young palates. The service was impeccable; our server was attentive and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations that catered to our dietary preferences. The food arrived promptly, and each dish was presented beautifully, making the meal a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds. The restaurant also provided a cozy, family-friendly environment. The staff went out of their way to ensure our kids were comfortable, offering kid-friendly menu. It was clear that they valued their younger guests as much as the adults.Overall, Rim Jhim restaurant, exceeded our expectations in every way.
