My partner and I have always heard great things about Colchester’s night out. We wanted to give it a try and had the walkabout recommended by a friend who had been there a few times. We gave it a go and had a blast. On arrival, at the door we’ve met a young man by the name of Johnny who was there accompanied by 2 bouncers. He was very welcoming and so we made our way in. Once inside I must admit, it wasn’t what we expected at first. There was rugby on the telly and so we thought, “have we come all the way here from Ipswich to watch rugby?” Then all of a sudden it turned into a full on night club. We had the best night and one good constant of our night was the young man we’d met on the door. Because we had told him we didn’t live locally he made sure to come over through our time there to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and having the best time we could possibly have. Thank you Johnny for making our experience that much more special. You were an absolute gem and we will most definitely make the trip again to have ourselves a good time and we hope you will be working when we go back. Thanks Johnny and hey, 5 starts to you young man. Great people skills and...
Read moreCame here to watch the forest game, no one at the bar. Staff sat down in a big group chatting and laughing. We put an order for 2 drinks on the app. No one acknowledged it. Waited 15 mins and went to the pub for someone to get up from their group to serve us. Finally got our drinks. No one at the bar for over 45 mins. Ordered food for the wings to come out cold, we sent them back, for the girl to bring us the cold ones back out. Asked for a refund, the other lady behind the bar went to tell the kitchen and she came back out and said they made us new ones. The girl before didn’t even wait for new ones to be made she literally brought out the same cold ones we sent back. She was too busy sitting with her friends eating and drinking. Honestly the worst service ever. They really need to sort out their staff, especially when it comes to food hygiene and food safety. It’s all well and good and cheap employing students, but they don’t know what they’re doing nor do they care. People will get seriously ill from cold and re-heated chicken, it’s...
Read moreIn terms of a club it is pretty grim to be honest. Just a general feel of dirt but if you are going to get chandeliered then i day say you won't even notice. It felt like my old school disco because everyone looked about 12 but the dj back then was a lot better than the one here; i came out with a nervous twitch because he kept changing the song every 20s and the mixing felt like i was in the Homebase 'make your own paint section' as I was getting hit with a Drake track smashing straight into what could have been a Mozart medley. Great for getting you completely out of it i suppose as you have no clue where you are, let alone what era. The 2* was given because the drinks were amazingly cheap. Compared to london prices this was like the holy grail of venues, although it cost £5 per lad to get so it kind of offsets any savings you make. All in all, a great joint if your goal is to get grandfather clocked but if you want to pick someone up at the bar Ed Sheeran style then you may need a good lawyer...
