An okay shop that sells previously owned DVDs, Computer games and an a range of tech. The cost of these items are very close to the cost of buying new. I don't practically like the way they do business. I took a Samsung S5 neo to them. After heavy scrutiny, they decided not to take it as the battery (which worked perfectly well) was allegedly blown, looks fine to me and although I had a genuine new battery, unused, They kept saying that they can only take a phone with the original battery. They also found a very small scratch on the back of the phone in one corner. After giving me a false value to encourage me to take it to the shop, they kept me there for about twenty five minutes. Whist they messed around with the phone, then they said that I should leave the phone with them for half an hour, while they checked it out. Totally wasting my time and effort and in my opinion giving me a deliberately false impression that all I had to do was take the phone in and they'd buy it off me. The phone works very well, the only problem being a small 16gb internal storage. At the start of messing me around, they insisted that I needed one of their customer cards before they could...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took in a laptop to sell and was told it would take three hours to test. When I went back no one could find the laptop. Eventually it was found and I was told that it passed the tests but they couldnāt buy it because they couldnāt install an operating system. This might sound like a reasonable excuse had I not taken the laptop in with a clean OS install and all the recovery disks. The guy carrying out the tests was clearly incompetent (by his own admission) and got completely confused how to install an OS. I was handed back the laptop with a formatted hard drive, no OS and told to take it somewhere else. I then had to waste two hours reinstalling the OS and fixing the damage done by the tester. If it wasnāt so much paperwork Iād take CEX to small claims court for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read morepoor quality and over priced products Purchased an Xbox one controller and returned it 2 hours later due to it having a dodgy A button and the fact it was in a dirty and poor condition plus you can buy a brand new one for the same price. I was only entitled to credit note to spend at cex (I guess they do this due to the high amount of returns they get) and not a cash refund despite being sold an almost faulty product to begin with. Also whilst in store I noticed staff members handling sensitive electronic equipment (a GPU) with no electrostatic protection which could potentially cause serious damage to the part. Be very cautious buying from CEX if you end up with something you don't want or is no good you will not get any money only a credit note to spend...
