The Food was acceptable. However, the business ethic of the restaurant when settling the bill was not to the expected standard. The credit/debit card machine was clearly masked to conceal the actual amount payable. Three times the person handling the card machine was asked to show the amount payable on the machine display. Reluctantly after adjustment he re-presented the terminal to me. The amount came to Ā£49.34 but this was masked by the person who was keener prompting me to enter a tip into the card payment system first. šš» My advice, never enter your PIN number unless you see how much your being asked to pay in first instance šš» It's fantastic how condescending the restaurant staff were. Remarks as "cant you read English, and you eat all the food! And especially if you can't afford it you shouldn't order it". My concern is the deliberate concealment of the bill before entering my PIN. I never mentioned the food was not satisfactory or the cost. Since I've been in business for over twenty years I can safely say this is not good customer relations. Maybe trading standards need to be alerted to their financial practice? š© Another point this restaurant didnāt consider. When dealing with the public, what if the customer doesn't understand English or have poor eyesight or hard of hearing would his remarks be appropriate then. In fact, his remaks were both inappropriate and unacceptable if not insulting. Not forgetting three times he avoided the same question. š© Moreover, his remarks potentially discriminating and if so, should the local authority and community be consulted?
Thank you for your response, you have clearly shown in your reply two points which illustrate your wrong doing. Item one, š¢ I said, your machine did not show the amount Ā£ you wanted me to pay. š You replied:- "All you have to do is read what it says on the screen just like every other person in this world and Press the accept button or the decline button" Item two, š¢ I said, three times the person handling the card machine was asked to show the amount payable on the machine display š You replied, "My advice to you is learn to read English so you can read what it says on the card machine and look at the menu properly so that way you can order something you can afford". So, from your childish and unprofessional remarks do you think you handled your customer well? Furthermore, you wasnāt the person presenting the machine to me. So how do you know what the screen said as he didnāt show...
Read moreThis is Really by far the worst Bangladeshi food we have ever had. We have traveled the world and unfortunately the worst experience was at this place. We ordered twice from this restaurant to give it one more chance, but it was a waist of money. First time we ordered butter chicken, jalfrezi, biryani, rice and an Nan bread. The butter chicken was just a minced chicken meet which was plastered with fat and coconut! Jalfrezi was the same. Biryani was dry and tasted like it was cooked a week ago and reheated on the day! Second time we decided to order from Speciality section and got a Bhuna and Rogan, both tasted and looked the same!! Drowned in fat! And Rogan which supposed to have tomatoes in, was also full of fat and coconut!! All dishes are full of onions so they look bigger and got only a small amount of chicken in it, which is dry as s paper. The dishes do not taste like curries, they are bland and sweet with no difference. Needless to say how disappointed we were! How can anybody ruin such tasty simple dishes is a mystery⦠Really a big shame.
The response from the restaurant to my review just sums it up!! As if we didnāt know where we went, unfortunately there is only one Bangladeshi restaurant in Lechlade. I do know the restaurant very well, as Iāve been there twice and live in the area. Exactly right as you said, you should ask your chef what the hell does he put in the dishes! As they all taste the same and yes thatās right, butter chicken had minced chicken instead of chicken fillet. You canāt argue with the fact that dishes should taste different from one another, they all taste the same, sweet as they are full coconut or sugar, oil. Zero spices as you would expect from that type of Cousine⦠If you read the reviews below youāll see exactly the same complaints, bland dishes, tasteless and got nothing to do with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe wife and I visited Lechlade today and each had a Sunday lunchtime all you can eat buffet at this lovely restaurant. The staff member on duty was extremely helpful and friendly telling us which foods were standard, medium, or hot in spice terms and the choice of food was fantastic, also the cooking was to die for. We were also informed that the buffet menu changes weekly which is a fantastic idea . We both agreed that this was probably one of the nicest meals that we had ever had. The food was very well presented and kept at the perfect temperature for eating. The restaurant is very clean and spacious with plenty of seating available. We thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning in the...
