Very disappointing food ! At a glance the menu looked full of promise we gave the order to the Waitress ordered two vegetable pies ,mixed grill and a 8oz burger. The waitress did not read the order back or ask how I would like the stake cooked on the mixed grill and just walked of into the kitchen to give the chef our order. About 20 or so minutes later our food arrived two vegetable pies which looked like someone had open a can of heinz vegetable soup and stuck a puff pastry lid on it . Mixed grill looked OK but the stake was well done which was fine but I do prefer medium rare. Instead of the 8oz burger my daughter order a 8oz rump stake come out cooked rare! My wife told the waitress we ordered an 8oz burger and not a stake. The waitress said a burger in shock which was very strange because she would have surely ask how we would like a 8oz rump cooking even if she didn't for the one on the mix grill. The chef came to the table and apologised and side keep the stake free of charge and I will get the burger to us ASAP which was nice. I swooped the 8oz rare for my well done 4oz only to find it was really bad quality. The lamb on the mixed grill was OK but the gammon was not cooked so I left it. The burger arrived but was of very poor qwerty you could actually see the rusk/breadcrumb that had been used to bulk it out. And as for the vegetable pie it did indeed taste like heinz...
Read moreWe stayed here this weekend and were overly pleased. We stayed in the Radnor room, it was stunning and cosy. The king size four poster bed was very comfortable. Plenty of storage space for clothes. Lovely seating area next to an decorative open fire. Large tv and a cute window seat. The shower was great, there was a free standing bath so I took advantage and had a lovely bubble bath. Location is great for visiting various places around the Cotswolds. The bar area is cosy next to the open fire which was much welcomed after a day out walking in the different villages. The landlady and staff were very friendly and gave advice on local places when asked. The locals were also friendly and the pub and hotel welcome dogs, we had met a couple of friendly dogs whilst having a drink which was great! There are a few parking spaces at the rear which are free for the customers and guests. We would definitely recommend a stay here and if visiting the Cotswolds again we would definitely return...
Read moreTwo day break in Lechlade. Room and en suite very decent, the first day breakfast was delicious so we decided to have an evening meal on the strength of it, the Menu was minimal with just one fish dish and one Veggy dish to choose from so we expected it would be fabulous! I ordered the Salmon with Garlic Potatoes which came with about 6 small Beans, no hint of a sauce or a dab of butter even! the meal was dry, basic and sorry to say tastless. The Salmon portion very small and the potatoes didnt taste of anything, when asked if i was happy i did say, but there was no offer of any sort, my partners Chilli Spaghetti was adequate but with not merit in taste either and then..... breakfast next day was not in any way as good as the first day! maybe they changed chefs or something, i can make a better dish than those from scratch any day, so what a proper let down....dissappointing! No im not offering my...
