We were staying at the Crown just up the road but we had our dogs with us and the Crown does not allow dogs in the restaurant, we were told to give The Great Western Arms a try which was a short walk away. We had a very warm welcome and the barman gave our dogs some treats and made a fuss of them. The pub is very clean and very well presented, we had an excellent meal and they catered for vegetarians very well. We stayed for several hours just enjoying the local company and excellent beer etc. Dog friendly, excellent not over priced food, nice beer and very friendly locals who along with the bar man made us feel very welcome. Very highly recommended and...

Warm and welcoming, and everything else a pub should be. We ate the steak and ale pie, garlic chicken chips and gravy, sticky toffee pud. Pie was richly filled with tender beef, perfect pastry and accompanying mash and veg exceptional, cooked with thought and care (kale crisps and red cabbage were a triumph). Chicken ‘n’ chips - done right like this - should be on more menus, what’s not to like?! Pud was light and delicious with a hint of cinnamon. Good to see they use locally sourced, quality meat and veg (our server was very informative on local produce) and took care to cater safely for son with a serious allergy. Our labs enjoyed a fuss too. ...

A very unwelcome shock: we arrived at approximately 8pm with our young son, we were all tired and hungry but were told we could not have any food due to short staffing. The pub sign outside said families welcome and food served till 9pm. When we queried this, another member of staff came out and said we could have a bowl of soup and some chips as they were the only things available. However, a young couple arrived around 10 minutes after we'd sat down and they were immediately offered a food menu. A hot meal including a burger was served to them. I would certainly not recommend this pub to anyone. The staff were unwelcoming and...

Good pint of Guinness, worth co.ing just for that. Very quiet when we first arrived, which was good as one young man on and he hadn't been doing it that long (since Easter I believe). Asked for an Aperol Spritz and with no one else on, had to Google it...to be fair to him, he worked it out and it apparently tasted very good. It did get busier not long after, probably could have done with some experienced hands around. They have a Pizza van in the carpark Monday and Tuesday, if it wasn't for our massive lunch, we would have definitely had a couple of their delicious looking offerings.

The Barman was friendly and inviting. From here the “Arms” is just a name. Absolutely no atmosphere, cold and soulless. Recently renovated to cater for chick posh numpties, with grey and chrome fittings and what appears to be used pallets for wall panels. Not a genuine pub one expects from country England or the Cotswolds. Only burgers and spring rolls on the menu. I can get this at any corner shop anywhere in the world. Not an experience to be recommended. Stay away if after a British country experience. Only snobs need apply.

Wonderful little pub with very friendly staff and great food. We visited one afternoon for a few drinks and ended up making reservations for Sunday Dinner, which we could not recommend more. The beef was flavorful and tender. The potatoes were incredibly crispy despite sitting in the gravy and yet still very soft on the inside. I still dream about that Yorkshire pudding. It may be seasonal, but their Eton mess is to die for as well. They also allow dogs inside which was an amazing surprise.
