Food was nice, wife had bubble and squeak which was warm and cold it parts. My food was nice enough (attached image) Things that ruined the experience, the head chef felt like he did not want to be there. Over hearing him telling people to stop sending customers in for drinks as they were fully booked, huffing and puffing and using head chef dominance. We waited 25 mins just to have our drinks. Appreciate it was Father’s Day and people should have booked like us but the manner in telling people ā€œhave you booked, then no you can’t dine hereā€ could have been handled better. Wouldn’t rush back. Ā£80 for 5 of us, definitely enjoyed over atmospheres and service elsewhere.

We had such a lovely Mothers’ Day lunch at the Lodge - after a brilliant paddle board session. We chose the venue because it was convenient - but from the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel so welcome, the food was excellent and the service spot on. It was great that we could choose from the usual menu (breakfasts, burgers or other delicious snacks) or the Sunday lunch menu. We’d come back just for the food, whether we’d enjoyed water sports beforehand - such a great find, we’ll be back!

What a beautiful spot to watch the world go by, relax and enjoy the sun. They have a lovely seating area that goes over the sailing lake which is just stunning. I stopped here for a quick coffee whilst I was on a walk. I was going to just grab and go, but it was so beautiful I had to sit and enjoy. They have a good range of drinks and food, although you have to pay extra if you want milk alternatives in your drink. This is definitely a place to come and unwind

Well what a shambles…don’t really know where to start to be honest Dropped in for some lunch at The Lodge after a recommendation..well what a bad idea. Ordered our food and drinks totally Ā£37.60 4 lots of Toasties and coffees Well after being served and told should be ready in about 8 minutes. Waiting patiently for over 40 mins with drinks finished it soon became obvious that our order had been forgotten or given to someone else as there seemed to be no sort of system in place so my wife and daughter asked had we become forgotten only to be shouted rudely from the back of the kitchen we had only been waiting 8 mins.. Then when we explained we hadn’t the guy on the till realised and did apologise he was pleasant enough to be fair.

But by this time we were then told they had ran out of toasties @1330

So we then ask for a refund along with several other customers who had the same experience that day.. Well That seemed so difficult to process for the manager we left in hope rather than certain this had been done correctly. Returned 3 days later as still no refund Then again on the Friday before we left Still no refund so after leaving our details as returning home that day we where told they would sort it.. Had a partial refund of Ā£11 on the evening of our return which seemed odd Emailed them but no response. 3 phone calls in total, then promised a full refund of Ā£37.60 would be credited back 2 weeks on there was still no more joy. Phoned again spoke to Michelle who I imagine is The Manager To be told refund had gone back onto my credit card on Aug 16th.. Guess what …I don’t own a credit card ..so my refund of Ā£37.60 was obviously sent to someone else ! Honestly what a total shambles So she took our details once more And now today another Ā£13 refunded, not the full refund we were promised, Yes that covers the toasties eventually but what a terrible experience in all.

Great location Appalling experience Will not...

We visited our in laws for the Easter weekend and decided to go for a walk by the beautiful lakes, whilst there we grabbed a hot drink and a treat for our son who has severe allergies to dairy, egg and peanut. We asked about the allergens in the cakes and the chef Scott who was the manager on that day was called from the back kitchen to advise on which cake would be suitable…we were reassured repeatedly that the chocolate cornflakes were in fact vegan as they were made with dark chocolate as were the little eggs on top so we bought one. I tried one of the ā€˜vegan’ chocolate eggs as I was pleasantly surprised these were vegan and quickly realised that they tasted very similar to milk chocolate ones, at this point my son has started to eat the conflate cake. I spoke to Scott and asked him to recheck the packaging, reluctantly he did and realised they did actually contain milk and blamed the supplier for sending the wrong ones with a half hearted apology. I appreciate that mistakes can happen but not once did he ask if my son was ok. Understandably upset I left to return to my son and family. I asked one of the girls serving for his name as I wasn’t satisfied with the outcome and shortly after Scott came charging out of the restaurant towards our table trying to defend himself by again blaming the supplier and denying knowledge that my son had allergies, his demeanour was very defensive and attitude aggressive making quite a scene. At this point we decided to leave as it now felt extremely uncomfortable. In times where there is so much information surrounding allergies and the severity of them, the ignorance was...

Appalling visit second time round. Cured beef ? More like artery fat. Inedible fatty boiled meat, chewy. The chef unconvincingly offered a free coffee, if I felt that cut up about it. Strange how last weeks order was so different to what we were served today. What a waste of hard earnt cash. And here I am, always cooking at home. I thought sunday was my treat, our first visit was good.

Dogs jumping up to the counter, really hygienic. No control from the owners.

Snooty customers not thanking people for holding doors.

Walkers dusting masses of mud on the floorboards for other people's shoes to pick up. You then find them washing their shoes in the lake before they get in the car. How considerate for the beautiful venue.

Honestly, sorry for the rant but the chefs indifference drove me to this review. For the record, I didn't take your free offer....
