We wouldn’t know any of the above as our booking was messed up by staff. I called the Saturday before to move our booking that I had made online to 11am instead of 10am. The young girl who took the call was busy and said she will write down my details and move the booking, then call back to confirm, then she changed her mind and said she won’t callback to confirm she will just move the breakfast booking to 11am. As far as we were concerned the booking had now been changed to 11am, no issues. We chose this location as we’re releasing a cannon around the lake prior to having brunch, to find out the gender of our unborn child, so it was supposed to be quite a special morning and we had picked this location based on being recommended this restaurant for breakfast and being close to nice walks. On the morning we didn’t want to be rushed and were running slightly behind so called up at 10.50am and said we will be more like 11.05 or 11.10am and asked if this was okay. Upon calling I spoke to the same girl I believe, she couldn’t give me an answer and passed me to a male colleague who obviously had more authority, he said that they would never have moved a food booking to 11am in the first place as the kitchen is closed between 11-12am, so why did the girl tell us this was okay the week previous? Does she not know what times the place she works serves food? Are staff not being trained properly if they’re new? They should know this information.

The man we spoke to was really lovely and helpful and said they will keep the kitchen open until 10 past 11 for us to order, which was really kind, however I felt really awkward that our booking had been messed up and that we would be the only people eating and staff would have to work extra to cook us food when the kitchen is closed, so I said no thankyou as I didn’t want us to be a burden. and we went elsewhere. Therefore what was meant to be a really special morning, organised around a restaurant that was pre booked and a staff member was spoken to over the phone and not told us there was an issue with the timing of our booking, ended up in going to the gateway cafe which was terrible! So maybe this feedback could be used to ensure staff are aware of opening times and times that food are served, as this wasn’t just a food booking it was a really special morning that had been planned in advance that was messed up because of a member of your staff’s incompetence. Maybe you could also put times that food is served on your website as it doesn’t currently say that no food is served between 11-12am on a weekend, which I would have thought would be peak time for visitors. I hope nothing like this happens in future to anyone else as it ruined a really...

it’s a shame I can’t give it five stars because the food was lovely. The staff were very efficient and the view was stunning but unfortunately, the dog etiquette was not okay we have been to many dog friendly restaurants this one there wasn’t any rules it’s the only dog friendly place I’ve been into where the dogs are just allowed to roam around and the owners don’t seem to have much control which did spoil the experience for us a little bit if I’m honest, so if you have a dog that normally keep on the lead in restaurants then I wouldn’t advise this bar,We went here last night with my 15 week puppy I always keep on a lead in restaurants I thought that’s what everybody did. She was sat under the table,There was another five dogs on the balcony they were all loose. Some were roaming around the tables jumping up at the tables.Barking a couple of times they came up to my puppy which was fine she’s a friendly Puppy, but I felt I couldn’t enjoy my meal because I was keeping an eye on the situation where I didn’t know the dogs. And they didn’t seem to be a lot of control with the owers.Unfortunately no one said anything and I thought maybe this is normal for the restaurant so when we finished eating,we just left.Normaly would of had a desertor...

  • Colour bias? **

Accidentally found this place while driving past. Looked like a beautiful location and appeared to have a great menu. It was Saturday afternoon around 4pm and asked to book a place to come there for breakfast on Sunday. "No, we are fully booked", I was told. "How about Monday morning" I asked as we were staying in the area. He (looked like a 15 year old lad) said that he will go and check. I turned away to look at the views of the lake. Turned back to be told no vacancy for breakfast on Monday either. REALLY? Such a big place and you cannot accommodate 4 people 2 days in advance?

I can see through you! Why are you in business if you don't want the brown pound? Does your bank not accept it? Or your other clientele has an issue? 4 people jumped up to defend their stance, but I remain convinced of my interpretation of the situation. A real shame because I think we would have enjoyed the breakfast there.

I suspect they will cry foul and call it slanderous, but I know when I see it. Shame because there are so many...

Excellent views of the water, great ambience, and food was good. Fish n Chips, Ski Club Sandwich, and Chicken wings were all delicious. I'd rate these all about 4/5. However, the let down was the burger - the patty was cooked well-done, rendering it tough and dry. It also looked as though it contained a lot of binders which made the texture rather gluey and unappealing (see photo of cross-section). This is a clear 1/5. The burger was the main distraction from what was otherwise a good meal. We would recommend this place, save that the burger be avoided.

Location is just amazing! By the lake with great view of people doing water sports! However I was disappointed by the service. Went there mid week for lunch and they had table for us but said they can’t serve food as there is lots of orders in place already. If you can accommodate everyone, just don’t have that many tables, or increase your personnel to meet the demand. Also, despite the government scheme of Eat Out to Help Out, we were charged full price!
