We have been regular customers at Dallings for over two years now, but today's experience means we are unlikely to return. We came in with a toddler and ordered food. Then we waited for around 30-35 minutes, with no sign of the food. During this time, a large group of friends of the owner sat down and the owner started having a long conversation with them. The person just before my wife was served food, so we expected we would be next. We then waited longer and the large group was served ahead of us. The staff behind the counter noticed we were still waiting, and when my wife went to ask why we hadn't had food yet they agreed that it seemed odd that we hadn't been served yet and went to enquire. After a few minutes of enquiring, she came out and told us that the food was being plated and would be out imminently. Five minutes later, still no food - by which point the gentleman who ordered just before my wife had long finished and was also asking why we hadn't been fed at all. We can understand prioritising a larger table, but expecting a year and a half old toddler to sit and wait around 40 minutes for a bacon sandwich and no be honest with us on the state of our order is too far. We would love to come back, but this was extremely disappointing and we have never had this treatment at...
Read moreWe ordered two vegan sausage rolls to take away and let the woman behind the counter know we were vegetarian and vegan. When we bit into the sausage rolls they were meat! My mum and I have been vegetarian for more than ten years. We came in to let the staff know and they insisted the inside was chickpeas but it was clearly meat (as I've eaten many vegan sausage rolls and falafel before) and there was clearly pork gristle in the sausage. The woman behind the counter was very argumentative and confrontational. We understand it was probably a mix up and mistakes happen, and just wanted our money back. Another man working there agreed to refund our money for the rolls and the woman behind the counter slammed it on the counter at my mum aggressively - it was very rude and I was very upset on my mum's behalf. We weren't trying to cause any issues, but it's disgraceful for a business to serve meat products to vegetarian/vegan customers and then not apologise if there was a mistake. We won't be coming back and were very upset by our...
Read moreThis is a nice little café and deli on Kings Langley High Street with two sections: one for enjoying wine and another more like a traditional café. The first area has a nicer ambiance, but we sat in the café section. There the tables are quite close together, and the vibe felt less inviting so I would have prefered to sat in the other area but it was quite busy that day.
We ordered coffee, hot chocolate and sandwiches, which were tasty and enjoyable. However, our experience took a concerning turn when a customer sitting nearby accidentally knocked over some wooden crates and cartons that were precariously stacked near the tables. They nearly fell on me! Thankfully, I wasn’t hurt, and the staff was quick to apologize and check if I needed assistance.
While the food and service were good, a little more attention to layout and safety would make this place much more...
