It's always a pleasure popping into the Rose & Crown for a few drinks, with a special shoutout to Gabriella whose welcoming smile, demeanour, and professional attitude never fail to elevate the experience. What truly stands out is Gabriella's commitment to going the extra mile. She doesn't just serve drinks; she creates an experience. Her knowledge of mixology is impressive, and her ability to recommend drinks based on individual tastes is spot-on. However, the highlight of the night is always, without a doubt, her Espresso Martini. Calling it perfect would be an understatement. The balance of flavours is always impeccable – a harmonious blend of rich coffee and smooth vodka, topped with a beautifully frothy crema. It's evident that she not only has a passion for her craft but also meticulous attention to detail. Each Espresso Martini is consistent in taste and presentation, a testament to her skill and dedication. Gabriella has an exceptional ability to manage the bar efficiently, even during busy periods, all while maintaining a friendly and approachable attitude. Her interactions with customers are always genuine and warm, which makes everyone feel welcomed and looked after. She’s a remarkable asset to the Rose & Crown. Her professionalism, skill, and extraordinary customer service greatly enhance the overall experience. I would highly recommend the Rose & Crown to anyone looking for a great atmosphere and, of course, the best Espresso Martini in town. Cheers to Gabriella for always making our visits warm and enjoyable.

Well we came back here yesterday, 5th May 25. We had a much better experience all around! We were served by Elise, who was delightful and very patient, as 2 of our number had special dietary needs! The burgers 3 of us had were very nice, dense, and quite tasty. The seabass was very good, as was the superfood salad, but please offer oil and balsamic, maybe as an alternative to the pineapple ketchup, which was too sweet for my friend. Much better, though, and great service by Elise! We had a mixed experience in sunday. The roasts were very hit and miss. The roast pork was very good. The slow cooked part of the duo of beef was excellent, but the slices of beef were a bit chewy at best and one friend's was pretty inedible as it was full of gristle. The naked burger we ordered came as a dirty burger and had to go back as our friend is intolerant to cheese, and this took a lot longer than we were told and we had finished our meals by the time his food came. However, the staff were lovely, and they took the burger off the bill and a further 20% for the delays. Could be really good but service needs to be less chaotic and they could do with a manager overseeing the while thing.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the newly refurbished Rose & Crown, I had never been before but my guest had and she was truly impressed with all the changes. To start with there is plenty of parking which is nice to not have to worry about on a evening out. When you arrived you are met and guided to either the bar area or straight to your table. The bar tender was very good at letting me try the wine before I committed as I was unsure with my choice. The food was on point, we both had all three courses and loved the food, quick service and a lovely stylish area to be able to catch up in. What I particularly like is that on the menu it's clear about the calories, they offer a mini dessert & coffee option which makes me feel included, as often I have to miss out. For full disclosure I did attend the Media night of the relaunch, but I have every intention of going back, it's a great location for me to catch up with girlfriends who live in the Hertfordshire area whilst I live in Buckinghamshire. Images uploaded are of my starter, Duck Parfait and my Main course which was the nourish bowl which I added king prawns and a side serving of green veg.

We came to the R&C after a long and chilly walk so was looking forward to a nice big roast dinner but sadly this wasn't to be. First of all the staff were all very nice and they were very apologetic that a few items were unavailable which we understood as it was quite late in the day for a roast lunch, but when the food arrived It was so disappointing. Sparse and lukewarm- a quarter of a carrot, half a parsnip, a teaspoon of cabbage and 2 small potatoes made up the veg. The veggie roast itself was nice enough, but there just wasn't enough food. I wouldn't mind, but for nearly £18 I would have expected more. It did also come without a Yorkshire, when I asked for it the waiter was more than happy to get me one but said it doesn't come with one as standard, which I pointed out isn't what it says on the menu. Was also supposed to be 'bottomless' gravy but when my husband asked for some more the waiter forgot (thats ok we're only human) but there werent many staff around so he just finished his already cold food as we didn't know how long it would be before we could grab someone's attention again. He said the chicken was very nice and he seemed to have more chicken than I had veggie roast but we both left hungry. Such a shame as I remember this pub being nice years ago when I lived near the area but it's changed to another chain pub that presumably has the food prepared offsite and reheated on site because it definitely didn't taste freshly made, it was more on par with wetherspoons but with a 1000% markup. Its rare we would treat ourselves to a roast dinner out and it was a lot of money to spend to come home and be hungry still.

If the staff weren't so nice and hard working I might have had a moan but it's not their fault and so I'm hoping someone else in a position to make a change might see...

I split my review into separate areas so I can give fair account of our experience. To start with I called to enquire if the kitchen is open and if they are busy or we can just come in (Valentines day 4pm). Nice gentleman advised we can come and sit with our dog in bar area. When we arrived we saw the offer for Valentines day of set menu. So we wanted to enquire. The staff looked absolutely disinterested in us. So we stood twice in the queue without clear answer. Second time I returned to check if the table was free in the restaurant (if I put my dog in the car as there dogs are not allowed) I was ignored, and they made it look like they forgot what I was enquiring. When I asked if we can change the table I heard that they are fully booked. I looked and there was only one table taken. So I said, really... it looks empty to me. I said is this such a big problem, and at this point the lady realised what's going on and surprised she said, oh now. And eventually we moved - on our own, noone helped us with baby chair or guided us to the table. The wait for the food was horrendous. So as we entered 3:50pm, we left at 6pm. We really hoped for the quick late lunch with the baby. Oh well. The food was good, fancy, but also expensive, and I'm not sure if the price was justified for the quality and portions. Positives: the decor is very beautiful shout out to Stephen who was the only staff member who made our experience better - he was just polite, smiley person, not like the other two people from the previous shift. The people who came for 5pm shift looked also nice. big parking dog friendly area some sitting outside baby menu and changing...
