In 29th of November 2024. I had a disappointing experience at Tong Xin Restaurant that left a sour taste in my mouth. My family and I were looking forward to a pleasant dining experience, but our evening was unfortunately tainted by the behavior of a waiter in a white uniform. Right from the beginning, his demeanor was far from welcoming. When my parents politely asked about a dish that was clearly listed on the menu, the waiter not only insisted it was unavailable but did so in a brusque manner, giving us unnecessary attitude. His dismissive tone was unsettling and made us feel quite uncomfortable. To make matters worse, when we expressed our willingness to wait despite the restaurant being busy, instead of accommodating us, he rudely remarked that if we wanted to wait, we should, otherwise we should leave. He then abruptly walked away, leaving us feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Such behavior is unacceptable in any establishment, particularly one that prides itself on customer service.
We had no choice but to leave this place as a result of his action.
This experience was truly disappointing, and I sincerely hope that the management of Tong Xin Restaurant addresses this issue promptly to ensure that future patrons are treated with the respect and courtesy...
Read moreAuthentic Chinese food, cooked fresh and from scratch, rather than the usual stir fried pastes used across Chinese stores.
There is a regular menu, a Dim Sum menu (surprisingly rare to find in Chinese stores), and a buffet menu option. Each item from the buffet is also made fresh on request. Many unique options and potential combinations.
It's healthier (being authentically made), but also costs more. Fishes (like lobster or bass) change price with seasonal availabilty.
Staff is very nice, attentive without prompting (orders and replacing teas plates and drinks) and happy to share recommendations and complementary suggestions. They'll try to point out for instance what can go on its own, and what needs complementary mains (meat/vegetables and sauce). If you're unsure what to have with what, feel very free to inquire.
A brilliant place for Chinese food, without the concern of feeling groggy or having too much salt. However, the great taste, options not found in other Chinese stores, service and healthiness come at a litteral and...
Read moreThis was probably the second or third time we had gone to this place, and it is a regular for our Dartford friends.
I think there is a separate Chinese menu, potentially a buffet I am given to understand that was not offered to us, which was fine by us, but good tip for anyone else who may not know.
The first server was a little irritable and seemed like we were getting a favour from the service rather than being treated like paying customers.
We had to request the dumpling menu, which again we hadn't been offered in the beginning. The dipping sauce for the dumplings came after we finished the dumplings.
But after the server changed, we got friendlier service.
The food was lovely. Beef in pepper sauce was excellent. Cashew chicken delicious. Pork pastry buns and prawn and chive dumpling yum! Crispy pork belly is also excellent!
Egg friedrice is very oily. Beef tripe is tender but needs to be cooked with the sauce more.
Other than the service, everything...
