Amazing pies ahhh !

A homity pie was just what we needed on day two of the Limestone way, which navigated us along the River Bradford where we saw lots of families enjoying a day by the riverside, closely replicating the joys of Georges Seurat ! Whilst we were hesitant to stop off in the nearby village and keep our walking momentum going (my boyfriend didn’t understand that a holiday is about taking some time out to enjoy ourselves), a short walk up the hill into the village and a small sign indicating pies, cakes and more led us to Peak Feast ! We actually weren’t sure what a homity pie was, but on further days in the Peaks noted that they seemed to be quite famous in the area, filled with a comforting potato and leek filling topped with a cheesy crust. The pie is veggie and you can have a vegan version too, either way they’re banging, peng potato pies.

There are also a number of veggie and vegan cakes plus home cooked meals in the fridge freezer which also all looked delicious , we recommend the apricot...

I came across this place quite a few years ago now and bought a homity pie. This homity pie was to spark a fire in me and I embarked on a quest to eat homity pie whenever I saw it on a menu, as it was so delicious. Sadly, no other homity pie lived up to the one I bought from Peak Feast and due to my crushing disappointment I ruined quite a few family celebrations at various restaurants. Eventually my family staged an intervention and banned me from eating homity pie ever again as I was never happy when it came out from the kitchen. For many years, I only had homity pie in my dreams... Until today. By happenchance, I was in Youlgreave and remembered that first homity pie. Mouth watering, I entered the shop. Do you still make them? I asked. There they were. The homitys. Lined up ready to be eaten. I felt like gollum finding the one ring. At last! I can finally enjoy the one pie to rule them all! TL;DR, don't buy your homity pie from anywhere else, these are the only ones...

What a find! Excellent vegetarian bakery, selling cakes and baked sweet yumminess as well as savoury snacks and meals including awesome homity pies, daily soup and specials (today was a delicious daal served with naan and mango chutney). Prices very reasonable and friendly service, outdoor seating only (a slightly damp bum from the recently rained on bench was completely worth it). If you're visiting Youlgreave for the excellent walking, I would highly recommend stopping here for take away provisions or a lunch stop. Also posh ready meals in the fridge, bread rolls / loaves and pantry...

Really good customer service. From my enquiry online before coming to the Peak District and when we came for lunch, service was exceptional. Didn't hesitate to answer our dietary questions, was honest in their answers and food was delicious. Hot food served till 2pm. I had the hot homity pie, my brother had chilli non carne and we both had the Bakewell tarts. Tea was a good mug of tea (if you know, you know). Highly recommend and the half hour trip just to come here was worth it. Photo of the food doesn't do it justice. Tastier than it perhaps looks.

Delicious food! Perfect for a quick lunch after a hike in the surrounding area. The staff were nice enough to serve us after the official closing time as well which was very much appreciated. We also got some frozen meals to eat for later which were just as good as the food on site. Also very impressed with the compostable plates/utensils! And lastly.. Coffee is amazing. Definitely a highlight of the Peak District :)
