Well well well my friends have I got a review for you , this was our first trip to the gate inn and wow was we satisfied, what actually happened we was so hungry and ordered starters of cheesy garlic bread and cheesy onion rings ( yes I’m a cheese monster lol ) and wow when it came for the two of us it was huge so we had to cancel our mains before the chef started cooking as we wouldn’t of managed it now this was our fault as we don’t normally have starters and mains we just got over hungry but the experience was so enjoyable the staff was so so lovely and happy and just they way they spoke to you and helped with anything they really enjoyed being in that industry and it showed as they were so busy but never got flustered or stressed they just worked in harmony with each other and I just felt so happy and really wanted my main course but wouldn’t of managed it but this won’t be our only visit not by a long shot , we hadn’t even booked and it was packed but they found us a table no problem and was not annoyed as we just walked in they just wanted to help us have a lovely Saturday night and that’s exactly what happened, the menu is fantastic and all the meals we saw going out just made your mouth water even though I haven’t tasted much you could tell all the food would not be a disappointment so please my fellow friends give this place a try it’s so beautiful inside plenty of outside area and a play park for the kids and also dog friendly so what more could you ask for it’s the whole package and much much more

Went Saturday the 25th November. A little hard to find(sat nav took us on a detour) some narrow roads, but well worth the trek. Place looks lovely with the Xmas decorations up,very tastefully done to. It was busy but unlike some restaurants you're not sat to close to other tables. Music on but nicely in the background and ambient noise not to bad.Been some places recently where you can't here each other talk. I had fish and chips with mushy peas and the wife had the filler of beef hanging skewer(think yakatori stick if you've been to one of those restaurants). My fish was awesome and the peas were really tasty, home made chips, really nice. The wife's was amazing and made me regret my choice, huge chunks of steak, cooked beautifully with onion, coleslaw and fries. She allowed me a sample,it was amazing, definitely be going back for one of these. Then puddings,I had the apple and berry pie with custard(choice of custard or ice cream) and the good lady had sticky toffee pudding with custard,it has chunks of fudge on top. Both were really nice and a good serving too. So a really nice place, lovely food and friendly staff,a little hidden away but well worth a visit, will be returning for that hanging beef. P.s it's dog friendly too.

We visited on the 16/06/2023. We drove in to a good sized car park, the exterior of the pub looks fantastic and very welcoming, the atmosphere felt great from the moment we got out of the car. When we got through the front entrance we were met by friendly staff, we booked online and yes the online booking was fast and easy, once we gave our name we were given a table next to a large window that looked out to the rear garden and children’s play area, after a couple of minutes the server came and took our drinks and food order, my wife had a Mojito and I had a Pepsi, the drinks came quickly, the Pepsi and the mojito were great, the food arrived about 15 minutes later, we ordered BBQ spare ribs and 8oz rump steak see pics, the food was excellently presented and the potion sizes were huge so great value for money, the quality and taste of the food was excellent… oh yes and the facilities were good, we will definitely be returning. I would definitely recommend visiting the Gate, as the drinks, food and atmosphere are fantastic, however, it is well worth booking in advanced to avoid disappointment as they do get very busy.

The food was good. However, the service and atmosphere were very poor. It took 1 hour and 10 minutes from arrival to be served our food.

We booked a table for three, earlier in the week. We were put into a small room with two extremely noisy and large parties. We couldn't converse with each other because of the excessive noise. Completely spoilt the experience. We all came out with headaches. We would have been more understanding as the pub isn't responsible for the noise and behaviour of other customers. However, after we were served, one of us went to look in the main dining area. It was very quiet, with plenty of empty tables. We had another look on leaving. It still had lots of empty tables.

We have no idea as to why a group of three would have been put into what felt like and sounded like "party room". We were also overlooked because the big party groups were getting all the attention.

One of those groups ordered a few minutes before us. They were severed their second course when we'd not even received our first.

In addition, when the food arrived, and we were asked if we needed sauces. Vinegar was requested and also a second drink. After about 10 minutes, the drink arrived, but no vinegar, which had to be requested again.

We were so looking forward to this meal. And have been to this put a couple of times before, when it's been lovely. However, this really spoilt it for us. And despite the nice and good quality food, I doubt...
