I called to find out if there was a latest time we could check in. Only to be told a booking could not be found and I would recieve a call in about ten minutes. A booking was finally confirmed after some confusion.
We stayed in room 3 the "king bedroom". The main issue was the very squeaky bed which keeps you awake most of the night. Every time you move it cracks and creeks.
On top of that, the walls are thin and I had to knock on another guests door to ask him to be quiet in room 2, as he was talking very loudly until 4 in the morning! Needless to say i had about 3 hours sleep.
The overall cleanliness of the room was poor. Ring marks from cups and electric toothbrushes all over the furniture and shelving.
The shower does not maintain a constant temperature. From scalding hot to freezing cold fluctuations every few seconds.
The hole in the bathroom floor is also a risk, as gentlemen have to stand on it when going to the toilet.
The bathroom is so small you have to get dried in the bedroom. There is also nowhere to hang wet towels after use.
Upon trying to check out, the door to the bar was found to be locked. Having to find the number to call the bar, to find out how we exit on the morning was another bizzare experience. The girl who showed us to the room did not explain the procedure in the morning.
I would have given all of this feedback this morning if i didnt have to "leave the key in the door and exit by the fire escape".

Read moreIt was lovely to sit outside with my delicious large glass of Rose wine on a beautiful summer evening, very nice atmosphere here, the pub was very picturesque and the flowers wonderful, but the staff are a little undertrained behind the bar. They were unsure of what was asked for and certainly did not know how to pull pints. My husband having been in the trade, and trained by Guinness themselves, watched as a pint was pulled for another customer, gritting his teeth saying no in his head. He said he could feel a knot in his stomach and then my husbands pint was pulled Oh boy! Not good... Apparently it happens when the keg is tapped. It doesn't take much, even moving it can cause a disturbance. The benefit of the doubt was given as they could have been new staff so my mouth was shut. The staff all looked very nervous, and unsure, more training is definitely needed to boost confidences. I would say to the owners, retrain your staff or your going to get complaints about your drinks which mistakes cost money... I would go back to give another chance in a few weeks, hopefully things have change. Atmosphere and ambience fab, service...

Loose toilet seat turned a seated visit into a rodeo. Shower takes a while to achieve temperature and not at all powerful. Windows one is painted shut the other has no latching bar so if windy will swing around. Needs a fan in the room Tv only has itv to ch4plus one about six channels. We stayed two nights but were locked out the second night by another guest locking the access door.had to sleep In our car until six when said other guest appeared. A call to the number on the website not answered or forwarded so no help at all. In room refreshments were not updated in this time so we bought our own milk and sugar. Already had tea and coffee with us. An impromptu fire alarm on the Sunday morning had us stood in the Car park for 20 minutes until the staff finally got the code to silence it. So a visit not easily forgotten. Basil fawlty would be proud.
Our night spent in the Car has been refunded by the tavern so thank...
