Genuinely disappointing. Some reviewers only go on Google to give negatives - my record speaks for itself that I offer more praise than denigration.
However, this experience was sufficiently tainted thanks to a lack of menu items, an unwillingness to substitute, and poor execution.
Pancakes that appear to have been straight from a supermarket packet, and perhaps a day old. The doughy texture capable of gluing my trap shut in ways that parents could only wish for some children.
A "big breakfast" that, thanks to the ineptitude of stock control, was going to lack in black pudding. The solution? Take it or leave it, was the attitude and subtext to the serving person.
Indeed, when asking if something could be done, the threat of an additional charge which seems entirely out of order. And when a substitution was agreed, the kitchen still elected to not pay any due attention and sent out the poor breakfast.
A distinct chill about the eggs with hollandaise on sourdough, one assumes due to poor application of time management.
All in all, a fundamentally disenchanting morning at Brix. It's a good thing this was two people with already low expectations, for had this been a Valentines breakfast I would no doubt have been informed by a female companion that I was going without tonight for my...
Read moreWaited 50 minutes for a stone cold breakfast, after 40 minutes we asked if our food was underway as we would have to go if it wasn't. At that two plates appeared at the serving hatch and over the next 10 minutes the individual items were placed on them when they were deemed fit for consumption. Our plates were virtually thrown on to the table with a very rude "you should have just waited instead of complaining" My beans had not been heated whatsoever they were straight out of the tin, everything else was barely warm. On paying the bill my wife was asked very sarcastically "well then was it worth the wait ?" to which she obviously said no. To be fair the rudeness only came from one of the three girls who I assume was not happy working on a Sunday morning, hungover or possibly just plain obnoxious, the other two were apologetic. If your looking for the latest overpriced Vanilla-choco-frappuccino I'm sure this is the place for you, but I don't recommend the full breakfast !!! We visit the area regularly but needless to say we...
Read moreI've been to Brix about 6 times now, a couple of times on my own, and the other times with a disabled friend. The times I was on my own the service was good. However, when I've been in with my disabled friend, I've been shocked at the service. I've noticed they will hold the door open for customers, especially those with prams- not once have they opened the door for us. I have watched the way they interact with other customers and they seem very smiley and happy to chat, however with us, they seem unable to smile and speak to us in a dignified and respectable way. It has made us both feel uncomfortable. I though it might be a one off, but as I say, we've been in a number of times now and each time the staff have been rude, customers have stared at us and food and drinks been mediocre. What is it about when I go in with my disabled friend that they seem to change? Anyway, won't be going again, and most certainly won't be recommending it to anyone who uses a wheelchair, I wouldn't want them to experience...
