Feast Bawtry — Restaurant in Doncaster

My girlfriend recommended we go to feast for breakfast on a Saturday morning as last year she had a great experience.

We turned up and the service was prompt and welcoming. We had to sit outside due to the business of inside, which wasn’t a problem at all.

Our order was taken and our drinks delivered to our table nice and fast. Both the iced vanilla latte and iced mocha were very nice, it was a great start.

However, what followed was what I could only describe as average at best.

We were very excited to order steak and eggs along with the avo and eggs on toast.

Unfortunately, excitement turned into disappointment when our breakfast was served…

Thin frying steaks that were well overdone and dripping with oil, I’d say no seasoning also but that was a reoccurring theme, there wasn’t any seasoning throughout the whole meal. Not a single drop of salt or pepper on the mushrooms, spinach or tomato.

The ‘grilled’ tomatoes were soft and soggy.

The fried potatoes in my opinion tasted like they had been reheated/ recooked, lacked amy crisp, fresh taste and were arguably the most terrible part of the dish (maybe on par with the steaks).

The avocado tasted like a shop bought guacamole and was only spread on one slice of toast despite being the main attraction in ‘avocado on toast’.

There was no sweet chilli jam, but apparently that was mixed into the avocado, which might have been why it didn’t taste too great in general.

The poached eggs were okay.

The halloumi (which we added to our avo on toast) & the toast were the best part.

In all fairness, the toast was perfect, so at least we knew the toaster was working that day.

I am not usually one to complain, but to pay £30 + for a breakfast and drinks for a treat and for it to be this disappointing does put a dampener on the start of your weekend.

I understand it was a busy morning of service, but the simplest of dishes were executed all wrong and when asked about our meal, anything that I pointed out that was disappointing had an answer for, no attempt to resolve any issues, despite the fact I think they knew they had put together a terrible dish.

Unfortunately, due to my poor experience I wouldn’t eat here again as I feel I could make better at home.

Shakshuka - yes please!!! 🥨🥪🌯🌮

Lovely visit here on a busy Saturday lunchtime. We managed to get parked 🅿️ up on the street adjacent the cafe. On entering there wasn't a table free, good sign, and as there were four of us we had to wait for approximately 10-15 minutes.

When we were taken to our table 🍽️ we were given a few minutes to decide what we wanted to drink ☕🍵🧋🫖, we placed the order and the drinks came promptly. The mango smoothie was very yummy 😋 and my Oat Flat White coffee ☕ was made perfectly 🤩 yum.

For lunch we had the following, Shakshuka (two poached eggs) - just the right amount of spicy-ness ♨️😋 for me. The kids had pancakes 🥞 banana 🍌 and Nutella 🍫 - as we left we grabbed a piece of blackcurrant cake 🍰, which we later shared with a cuppa - the cake was yummy and moist 🤩

Dogs 🐕 are welcome also, that was nice to see.

Access ♿ isn't to bad, but may be a struggle to get to the toilet. Staff are really friendly though and will certainly attempt to accommodate ❤️

Really friendly staff, and the cafe was clean and tidy. Tables were cleared quickly.

I came in today at around 2.30 with the hope to enquire about private catering for a family event I'm planning. As you close at 3 I didn't think this would be an issue as we wouldn't be there very long. I had taken maybe 1 step in the door to be met with a hostile "we've stopped serving now" and moved directly infront of us to stop us coming any further. which is fine as we wasn't actually wanting any food. We have come in here on occasion around this time and still been served so I'm unsure as to whether this is just a recent change. If we had of been greeted in a slightly more professional way then we would have maybe had chance to speak to someone. If we had come in for food could I suggest you amend your opening times to save people having a wasted journey. We will find catering...
