The Crown Inn — Restaurant in Doncaster

We regularly pop here for a Sunday Carvery when I need a break from cooking. The food is fabulous. They gain extra "carvery points" for the home made Yorkshire Puddings, good quality vegetables and for serving cauliflower cheese and stuffing balls as standard. I usually have a veggie with me, who is well catered for (and they avoid cross contamination well). Not only that, but the Chef and Carver are a pair of live wires and there is top quality Yorkshire banter over the serving counter.

Do book a table for Sundays. The booking system works well. Even though they are busy, they will have plenty of staff on so that everything runs smoothly.

Good disabled access. I see this place frequented by a lot of people with mobility problems. If you have anxiety, it can get very busy at peak times, but it is a bit quieter if you request a table in the "pub side" rather than the "dining room" where the larger...

No issue with the food. Service was good to start with and tickets given for the Sunday lunch. We had to wait nearly 30 minutes to go up to the carvery. No issue with this as been many times and saves a long que. We had just finished our food and was thinking about pudding. We still had drinks left. We were then rudely informed that we needed to vacate the table as needed. No one had offered us a chance of pudding or seeing the pudding menu. This lady had no manners at all. She suggested we had sufficient time as we had an hour. She was smerking throughout and suggested having pudding in the bar area. When we booked no one mentioned that the table was for an hour. Thought we would try this place for Sunday lunch, first impressions were it looks like a local pub with outdated furniture and carpets. We asked if they had a table available for the 3 of us as lots of tables were reserved, they got us a table pretty quickly and we went for the carvery. The food was delicious and plentyful, cooked to perfection. All 3 of us enjoyed the food, the service was really good with lots of staff on hand to help.
