The Old Swan ('Ma Pardoe's') takes its nickname from Mrs Doris Pardoe licensee until 1984. The pub is grade 2 listed, it's unspoilt interior is recognised as being of national importance, unchanged since Victorian times the enamel panelled ceiling in the front bar is an incredible rarity. The pub also has its own brewhouse and still brews its own beer. Good beer Good Food one of my favourite pubs in all of England.

Well what can I say, its always looked an unassuming little place but is crammed full with character and characters. If you want propped home cooked food with real flavour and piping hot then book yourself a table and give it a try, don't forget a designated driver to sample their own brewed ales as well. Limited choices for veggies but food is so good.

This place and it's people should be a national treasure I am a Yorkshire man taken in there by a friend I was made very welcome by the staff and the other customers a couple of good pints and a cheese and onion cob, With good conversation what a way to while a way a cold afternoon.

I went into the Old Swan on Saturday with my wife and 14 yr old son for some lunch. My wife has been in a couple of times and was very complimentary about it, good food, they brew their own beer on site, it all sounded very good. Unfortunately, i never got sample any of this because they refused to serve us due to the presence of my son. Not allowed in apparently, too young. Odd that later that evening we went to another pub for dinner having missed out on lunch and it wasn't a problem. The really odd thing was that the reasons for this refusal of service weren't explained. A 14 year old is allowed accompanied into a licenced premises to eat so it wasn't a legal issue. If a pub has a no children policy this should probably be communicated a little better than it was on Saturday. Very dissapointing both in terms of not getting to sample what my wife told me was a good pub and also the attitude of the staff towards us when they refused to serve us. i quote 'No under 16's, no expceptions'. well, no business from me then, sorry lads, I won't be visiting again even...

(Known locally as Ma.Pardoes) It's a pub frozen in time, but serves a varied arrangements of drinks, it brews its own beers, (Good) On the whole, Food positively average, not great but no negatives, so people's own opinions must be formed. Go see the bar room ceiling...it's covered with enameled tiles that are unique, ....Are you of American origin, wouldn't you love to take this back home,?(Postscript) This establishment had some frontal damage, by Motor Vehicle to bay window(2018) The damage has now been repaired, EXTREMELY BADLY, whoever is responsible for this brickwork/repair should be locked up, or at least never be allowed to desicrate another fine Building, I just hope MRS. PARDOE can't see it. RIP.....The faux Pas that is this Brickwork has now been Rectified, bricks that match other window have now been laid, so although it cannot BE the same, it does...

My uncle was over her from the USA so we decided to take him around a few Black Country pubs, Ma Pardoes (or the Old Swan) was on the list. Wish we hadn't bothered now, we walk in to the bar and the big Black country welcome that I expected just wasn't there, a bloke behind the bar asked what we wanted, uncle asked if he could have a taster of one of the ales to be told "we don't do tasters, gaffer don't like it", remember uncle is American and has a different taste when it comes to beer so a taster would have been appreciated. Anyway we all had a beer and some scratchings and sat down, finished our beers and left. Given that this one of the more famous Black Country Pubs I think they need to work on their customer skills when tourist end up in their bar, didn't seem very welcoming, could have...
