As a frequent visitor to Desi pubs, I was really happy to hear The Crown would be opening up as a Grill. The promise of a decent Mix Grill without a long journey was enticing. While The Crown has potential to rival my favorites (Hen & Chickens, Red Lion, Champy's), it still has a way to go. The interior remains unchanged from the Old Crown, and it was a little chilly in the restaurant area, my wife had to keep her coat on. The service was friendly and helpful, but the menu prices seemed a bit steep, especially the £12 Naan wrap. We ordered Poppadoms, a Large Mixed Grill, Curry Sauce, Garlic Naan, and Chips. The Poppadoms were good, but the tiny portion of onion salad was disappointing. The Mint Yoghurt sauce was tasty, but the Spicy Red Poppadom dip was simply chili sauce. The Large Mixed Grill arrived with a satisfying sizzle, but the portion sizes were smaller than expected compared to my other favourite spots. However, the quality of the meat was excellent: juicy Tikka, succulent Hariyali, well-seasoned wings, a nicely cooked lamb chop, soft and crispy Fish Pakora, and a flavorful Sheesh Kebab. The Curry was tasty but also on the smaller side. Overall, the experience was positive, but there's room for improvement in terms of portion sizes and ambiance.

What a fantastic addition to the local scene! This pub truly has it all—welcoming to families, friendly to four-legged companions, and brimming with charm. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal. The menu is a real delight, offering a wonderful variety of fresh, home-cooked dishes that cater to all tastes. Every bite is packed with flavor and quality, showing the care and passion put into each meal. The staff are friendly and attentive, creating an experience that makes you want to return again and again. If you're looking for a pub that combines great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a true sense of community, this place is an absolute gem!

23rd December 2024, considering this was my first visit, and on the evening of only two days before Christmas Day. Both my friend and I were very pleased with the food, appreciating the new owners had only been open for a couple of months and naturally have some teething points, which I’m sure they will overcome in time. We had a grill and we had two curries one chicken and one meat. Both were absolute fine. The chef came out asking if the food was okay. Staff were polite pleasant, Considering this was two days before Christmas, there was at least eight or nine tables with groups of people eating and drinking. All the customers were polite civil, which is great to see. I will be returning again.

Hmmm. Been a frequent customer here for the past five or six years. Sadly, but surely, I've come to the conclusion that I've made my last visit. The exterior is in desperate need of maintenance. The posts that support the 'smoking shelter are rotten through, wooden panels are loose and barely hanging on. These safety concerns are obvious and in immediate need of attention. It all adds up to a lack of pride in presentation. The dining room itself is unique in it's decor. The bar staff consistently dither when challenged with the task of serving two pints and two whiskies. A warm welcome is beyond their repartee. Quite often you can witness staff being rather too sharp or disinterested with other customers. We often dine around 6 in the evening which is evidently 'winding down' time for the carvery fayre. Often, meats have sold out, or staff have tried to make whatever remains last to the bitter end. I haven't had any beef in my last 3 visits. There's never a full dining room so I'm at a loss as to why there's rarely a full choice. Chef implied 'that we came earlier'. It's a massive negative and comes across as being too thrifty. Since COVID there has been no soup or starter salad option which was always a pleasant warm up after a hard day's work. Shame. The Crown was once a reasonable option but has sadly misplaced it's pride and warmth. Sad to see a business decline, but decline it has. With regret, we have no...

Came to the crown for a family birthday meal as saw it looked lovely in the paper, booked a table before arriving at the crown a day before. On arrival we waited at the bar all the staff looked miserable no one was smiling at all, we was approached by a young lady brunette hair we said we had a table booked an she said in a rude voice how many, walked over to the booking book and looked confused another colleague went over an asked again how many, horrified to think we booked a night before and there’s no trace of a booking we were told we could only eat in the BAR AREA... ?! As it was Cooler for us. No no no because our booking was lost so we waited again for table to be cleaned as a table just left. No one told us how it worked as we’ve never been there before if it was table service or anything. I Work in this industry myself and I’ve never seen staff so miserable an unhappy. Not welcoming at all in fact I’ll never be returning. Family meal was ruined as we had to find somewhere else to go as the place let us down from the get...
