Jomidar Mahal — Restaurant in East Cambridgeshire

We had a wonderful dining experience at Jomidar Mahal this past Sunday. I went with my wife, our daughter, and a friend, and we were all absolutely delighted with the meal. The service was truly outstanding from start to finish – warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It’s clear the team take real pride in what they do.

The food itself was exceptional – beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and presented with real care. This isn’t just a good local restaurant – it’s a destination in its own right. In fact, we travelled over from Cambridge (a 27-mile journey) specifically to eat here, and I can confidently say it was well worth the trip. We’ll definitely be making that journey again very soon.

I even had the chance to meet the chef, which was a real pleasure. It’s always a joy to see the passion and dedication behind the scenes, and it was obvious that this is a team committed to excellence. They are a credit to the cuisine they create.

The village needs continuity & a venue that’s warm & friendly with welcoming staff. As expected, no stone has been left unturned by you & your team. The food is seriously amazing including the service. Special mention of Mr Mia. He brings back the good old customer basics including the communication between the customer & the back of house is exemplary. He builds great rapport & most importantly nothing is too much trouble ensuring the customer is happy & always comes first! I must say that this skill has not been demonstrated by most of the competition since your absence & this quality is hard to find. To the new fresh full decor of the premises, the friendly staff combined with this your own friendly personality, personal attention to detail, creativity & but most of all your energy & enthusiasm to be the best in what you do is demonstrated in the quality of the food you serve on the plate! Rang earlier in the day to confirm that they would deliver to us in the evening, as their website was showing that they do not deliver to our address — even though we live within their delivery area. I was told they would deliver, but there would be a £5 delivery charge, despite their website clearly stating “Delivery Charge £4.00: Up to 6 mile radius.” We are 5.9 miles away, so the extra £1 seemed rather arbitrary, but we decided to proceed anyway and were told to call back later with our order.

When we were ready to order that evening, we called back only to be told they couldn’t deliver to Welney because they were too busy! It’s a Saturday night — surely they should expect to be busy? The person handling the call didn’t seem to care at all, even when we explained that we had confirmed delivery earlier in the day.

Thoroughly disappointed with the whole experience. The attitude came across as “we’re busy, so who cares about the other customers.” That approach might come back to bite them on quieter days. Needless to say, we won’t be...
