Featured dishes

Pate
A rich and velvety classic to start your meal. Served with rocket, chilli jam and toasted ciabatta slices with butter. This is a perfect blend of a creamy texture with a crunch and some bold flavours. A timeless favourite to whet your appetite. (G.f.)
Brie Bites
Golden and crispy on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside. It's not an armadillo, it's cheesy indulgence. Served with a fresh salad and a sweet chilli sauce. A great dish to start your meal with. (V)
Thai Fishcake
Dive in with our fried thai fishcake served with a garnish and sweet chilli sauce.
Chefs Soup
Made fresh with a dash of creativity and a pinch of mystery, if you ask nicely we might tell you what's in it! Served with a roll and probably in a bowl. (G.f., v)
Sponge Pudding
A mademoiselle syrup/treacle sponge pudding. A soft and airy sponge delicately flavored and moist, offering a melt in the mouth texture. Served with custard, cream or ice cream.

Here we have the amazing Dog and Donkey pub. I'm a 'local', but I've only recently re-discovered this gem of a pub after a change of management a while ago. This place has a great vibe and a genuine community spirit, while also being very welcoming to non-local visitors... there's no stoney silence and eyeballs towards the door when you walk in here 😅 Always a good selection of quality cask ales, ciders, and spirits available, and at very reasonable prices. I've not tried the traditional pub food so far, but I hear the home-cooked roast dinner is something else. They also deliver their lovely grub via JustEat, if you can't get to the pub. When the big function room isn't being used for pool, darts, and local skittles league nights, or private functions, there's great entertainment with regular bands (check out the jazz nights), DJs, music bingo, karaoke, and lots of other fun events. There's also board games, to stop you getting 'bored'! Lovely beer garden too, overlooking a picturesque horse meadow. All-in-all, a great pub, social hub, and a real credit to the village - a visit is highly recommended 👍

Excellent service, awesome atmosphere, great food. we had steak and chips with coleslaw and tomato and it was that so nice and filling my partner had it again as it was absolutely lovely instead of a dessert. Where I had the cheesecake and it was divine and will definitely be coming back to try more off the menu. Coal fire was on so nice to sit around, staff were great very helpful, friendly and couldn’t of done more for us. Definitely worth a visit and I highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My family and I were staying at Devon Cliffs Haven and we were recommended to go to The Dog and Donkey for Sunday lunch. The landlord Mark could not have been more welcoming to my daughter and son-in-law and grand children. We all had the roast beef which was lovely along with the well kept beer We also all enjoyed the pool table. Thank you and if we are ever in the area again will definitely pop in.

Went for a Mother’s Day meal. A small multi choice 3 course meal was on offer. Arrived at 12PM Starters served promptly and hot. Did have to remind them to bring the rolls and butter which were supposed to be with the starters. Main course took ages to arrive and once we finished we had to sit with our plates till after 2PM before they cleared them away. When we enquired about pudding we were informed that they had stopped serving at 2PM. A bit annoyed as the slack service had kept us waiting. Upon checking with the kitchen we were allowed our puddings but felt we were watched and plates quickly removed before we had all finished. This said, Cannot fault the food, it was tasty and hot, when we got it. Unfortunately think they need to plan the meals, service and plate clearing more promptly to ensure a smoother running. Have been too larger, busier places more slick with their...

Visited The Dog and Donkey in July 2024 and was thoroughly impressed. From the moment we arrived, the landlord was very friendly and accommodating. The pub offers a great range of ales and ciders at reasonable prices, with plenty of seating both inside and out.

The menu boasts fantastic choices, all very reasonably priced. The food was cooked fresh and served in generous portions. The facilities were clean and tidy, adding to the overall positive experience.

It's hard to find a place like this nowadays. Well worth a...
