My wife, my son and I visited your lovely cafe today - unfortunately this was the last visit ever! While the cafe is really nice and the food delicious, the people working there have a clear pattern towards unfriendly and rude behaviour. We noticed that a few times already on our previous visits but today the owner really crossed a line! This is what happened:
After ordering scrambled eggs, bacon and toast, the food was brought out without the bacon. Which would be no problem - we are all only human and make mistakes. However, the owner was extremely convinced of myself that the bacon was not ordered, so much that he rushed to the table with a raised voice āprovingā his point by claiming it is impossible we ordered it because he didnāt write it on his piece of paper. Could it be that he was just busy and forgot to write it down? Well⦠according to the owner, itās not! But more than that it was his very rude and almost aggressive behaviour that put us off. He then just stormed off leaving us with no time to respond. Therefore, my wife then approached the till asking very politely ācould I speak to you for a minute please?ā - which he refused, claiming to be busy (when in fact there were 4 members of staff present!). A lady (his wife?) repeated that he was busy, refusing any explanation or let alone an apology. When the same lady seconds later came to our table, she wanted to sort the issue out - except that she made everything 1000 times worse by claiming my wife was the rude one and once again not apologising at all. Even when she was made aware how her husband acted, no apology still. We never witnessed such a poor customer service which is why we stood up and left. Upset, angry and shocked - perhaps the owner likes to make things...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stayed in a hotel in Rowlands Castle and went to this cafe for breakfast in the morning because it was right next to this hotel and we thought it would be friendly. The food was really good, however the atmosphere and service was terrible. From the second we walked in everyone was staring at us in a judgemental manner because we weren't local. We smiled at the staff however they did not smile back and were not friendly. Whilst sat down, we heard a few comments from the staff talking to other customers about why us "young people were in the cafe" and clearly whispering about us, making us feel uncomfortable. Every new customer who walked in would give off the same vibe towards us, looking us up and down. Clearly they are not welcoming to visitors who aren't their regular locals. So if you don't live there, don't go there because you will not feel welcome and will get the impression that they want you to leave. Never visited such a place that feels as old fashioned as this cafe, clearly they haven't moved with the times and have not yet discovered that people travel now and they are going to have to accept that the world is not just full of...

Itās great meeting other locals & to become friends with them. Friends of ours that live in Southsea always meet us there now (we used to meet at a Southsea cafe) as they love it so much, amongst them a good friend who now brings all her friends, we were there today & she loved the Bees Knees! The coffee is excellent, we love iced coffee in the summer & the milkshakes are to die for! The staff are lovely always go out of their way to help. We go for coffee & sometime eats. Itās spotlessly clean & have all their Rated 5 star hygiene logos on their door. If you are on your own donāt hesitate to go, whether you want to sit & be quiet on your own or maybe sit near other people & chat itās perfect for a visit. You can take dogs into the front bit of the cafe so great for when the weather isnāt nice enough for outside, thereās a pot of dog biscuits & towels to...
