Came here for the first time on a Saturday, table booked for 18:30. Arrived a few minutes early, but was no issue and was greeted and taken to our table towards the back.
Ordered our drinks from a huge selection of different wines, spirits, cocktails, beers and soft drinks and they arrived quite promptly. She had a wine, I had a Meantime IPA, we also had some tap water for the table.
We decided to go for the 'small bites' plates so we could have a bit of a relaxed, tapas-style dinner and they recommended 2-3 dishes per person on the menu.
We went for;
Baby Chorizo, Halloumi Fries with Sweet Chilli Mayo, Butterbean & sweet potato hummus with Flatbread, Truffle & Parmesan Fries, Slow Cooked Pigs Cheek and Cod Cheek Tikka.
All dishes were cooked and presented to an extremely decent standard, and there were no major complaints about any of them. Although I do have a single piece of constructive criticism; -The Cod Cheek Tikka could've been served with a naan bread as it was a slightly saucier dish.
For me personally the Cooked Pigs Cheek was my favourite dish. I would've loved a double portion of that and mash and have that as a full blown main meal. The combination of textures in the dish was amazing, and the flavours were absolutely spot on too!
Afterwards, we decided to skip pudding and have a random cocktail we've never had before. She had an espresso martini, I had a Tiki Mai Tai - Both were actually really nice and we'd definitely order them again when on a night out.
Overall, an extremely nice evening out, the food and service was absolutely spot on.
My only negative for the evening was the atmosphere as we were sat next to a rowdy table of 6 who didn't have a volume knob, nor knew how to keep their P's and Q's to a minimum whilst in a restaurant. Obviously that's not something I can control, and isn't an every day thing for the restaurant, just bad timing for us.
Either way, we will 100% return in the future and try out their steak sharer as I got major food envy when I saw...
ย ย ย Read moreI recently dined at the Peppermill and was thoroughly impressed! Upon arrival with my husband and son, the friendly staff warmly welcomed us and immediately took our drink order. Our servers were attentive and considerate throughout our experience, ensuring we had a comfortable and enjoyable meal. We opted for a three-course meal, with my starter being the tasty beetroot and goats cheese, while my husband enjoyed the king prawns and squid. For our main course, we both had the roast beef, along with roasted chicken and deliciously creamy cauliflower cheese on the side. Our son couldn't resist the kid's burger and chips. As for dessert, I indulged in the cheese board, my husband raved about the sticky toffee pudding, and our son enjoyed his ice cream. Overall, the food was exceptional, and we received brilliant service from the moment we arrived until we left. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and will certainly be returning soon. It's a fantastic spot in Buntingford that I wish we had tried sooner. Do not miss out - check it out...
ย ย ย Read moreWe came here on the recommendation of a friend and we are so glad we did. Buntingford is very small so finding somewhere with this level of quality of food & service is unusual but very welcome. Essentially it's Tapas but not specifically Spanish. However the portions are bigger than your average Tapas so be careful with how much you order as you can always ask for more. All the dishes we tried were superb but in particular the Flat iron steak sharer was particularly good and very good value. In fact it was probably the best value on the menu as my only gripe and why I gave for stars, is because the prices of each dish are a little too much. Some are the cost of a main that you would find in another restaurant so it can get expensive. Overall though it's a great little find in a beautiful old building. The service from the staff was superb but in particular our main waitress Molly was one of the best servers I've encountered in a long while. Such a pleasant young lady who is always smiling...
