Review: The Stable Bar at Tewin Bury Farm
The Stable Bar at Tewin Bury Farm is a truly charming spot that effortlessly combines countryside character with modern comfort. Nestled among beautifully restored farm buildings, it feels like a hidden retreat where you can completely relax—especially after a peaceful wander around the grounds.
The interior is warm and inviting, with exposed beams, rustic brickwork, and soft lighting that gives it a cozy yet elegant feel. It’s the kind of place where you could easily lose track of time over a good drink and conversation. The bar itself is well-stocked with a nice mix of local beers, classic wines, and some creative cocktails if you're in the mood for something different.
What makes the experience even more special is the setting. Just a few steps outside, you’re met with stunning views of open fields, wildflowers, and a small stream winding through the landscape. And of course, there are the friendly llamas and sheep grazing nearby—yes, really! They’re such a unique touch and bring an unexpected charm to the whole place. Watching them quietly move about while sipping a drink in the afternoon sun is as relaxing as it sounds.
Whether you're stopping by after a meal at The Granary Kitchen, attending an event, or just looking for a peaceful drink with a view, The Stable Bar is a perfect countryside escape that delivers both atmosphere and...
Read moreI wanted to give myself some time to write this review because I can't stand reading peoples' vitriol online when I'm trying to assess if a place is worth visiting, so I'll try and keep this as objective as I can. I enjoyed visiting The Stable on the quieter nights during the week and had been impressed with the setting and service, so decided to see what it was like on a Friday night, expecting a bit more of a buzz.
The short story is; I waited 30 minutes for my seat to become available; I was seated at a sofa rather than a table despite booking for food; both my side order and main course were incorrect, and; I waited over 20 minutes for a pint despite the venue being less than half full. It's also worth noting that on arrival and departure, I came across two separate groups complaining about similar issues.
Having had such lovely evenings here during the week, I confess I was utterly disappointed with my most recent visit and wouldn't return if someone paid me. It may still be worth a visit if you're thinking of a quiet midweek drink, but I'd caution against making this a spot for food or drink over the weekend.
I raised the issue regarding the food at the time, but didn't feel able to provide all of this feedback on the night as I wanted some time to digest. However, in the interests of fairness I'll also be passing this along to the venue staff (who may actually be able...
Read moreWaited 35 minutes today for two takeaway coffees. Went to the bar as directed by the sign outside to be repeatedly ignored by the staff. When asked if anyone was serving I was told I would be when the table orders were taken (they arrived after me). When my order was finally taken I was told I must wait outside and they would be brought out. Given it was only 3 degrees this was less than ideal. 15 minutes later, I went back in to chase up the order to find the coffees had been left on the bar and were now going cold! Two flat whites came to £7.40 and I’ve had better coffee at McDonalds. Ignorant staff, overpriced produce and low quality means I won’t be back and can’t advise...
