The Cowshed Restaurant — Restaurant in East Hertfordshire

Amazing food and friendly service, the only thing lacking was it took over 20 minutes to get a childs dessert but people were really friendly and in fairness they were busy.

The good, the food omg amazing. Had the complimentary freshly baked bread, soda bread and cheese profiteroles, both were lovely. For the starter I had the scotch egg and it was perfectly cooked, my wife had the mackerel and said it was divine. Mains I had the tomahawk pork and it was delicious, full of flavour and not over cooked (asked for well done). Wife had the chicken dish and said it was the best chicken she's ever tasted (the servers recommended this one too).

We were so full we couldn't finish everything, overall a lovely eating...

We came for afternoon tea with my disabled father and 3 young kids for my mum's 70th birthday. The staff were lovely and professional, really helpful in telling my mum where to drop my dad to minimise walk to seating area. Didn't bat an eyelid when my daughter asked for an extra macaron or when my son pulled the alarm in the loo. And then made my mum's day with a lovely slice of cake with birthday writing etc. The food was really lovely. The website doesn't do the extra facilities justice either. There is a great playground on the site and we popped to the Piano bar for a drink before we left where the staff again were great. Was just perfect for us today. We'll be back for other family...

We visited for a special occasion. We love the setting and the quality there. On this occasion the restaurant was very quite for a change. We were offered all the menus at the entrance and sitted to a nice table. The upholstery on the benches is very old and in need of replacement urgently as not pleasent to look at. The service was speedy but lacked attention to detail. Staff were friendly but did not look happy and engaging as usual. They were new as we have not seen them before. The food was OK but did not impress great presentation. My wife's birthday was not acknowledged despite being mentioned on my reservation notes. We will give it a miss for a few months hopefully things...
