Village Cafe — Restaurant in East Hertfordshire

An excellent independent cafe in the traditional sense with the classic food you want from a place like this. You can of course get a latte and be all modern and watch the world go by on the high street, but the alluring smell of bacon being cooked is really why you stopped by...and keep coming back.

The hungry gentleman will not be disappointed with the menu or portions and I've even been told the tea is too notch!

The staff are friendly and food takes the right amount of time to come out so you know it's not being rushed.

I've had the Bacon and Sausage baguette a few times and will continue to purchase of I'm in the area.

Looking at the clientele they also return time and time again so that's the best recommendation you can get.

One thing to note is they are a good old fashioned cash only place...if you need folding the Co-op down the street will do you cash back!

Food is really good and the staff are polite as for as a working man's cafe goes but I would of given 4 stars if this cafe would of accepted card payments.. It's becoming a common trend amoungest foreign owned cafes that only accept cash and no card payments.. I hope tax duty is getting paid...

After receiving the reply from the owner of the cafe, I feel compelled to add an extra review onto my previous paragraph. After attending this cafe over a period of a few months, I was informed by a member of staff that they "no longer accept card payments" hence my review.. I'm sure it doesn't take "months" for the broadband to be "sorted out" so they can accept card payments.. An unlikely excuse from the owner. My original review was influenced by other cafe users and local people. An Appalling response by the manager who's comment doesn't...

The food is cheap and the service I always polite. We've called to book tables on occasion for breakfast and they're always very accommodating and come and do table service for us as we're usually a big group. If it's quiet they also sometimes do tabl service too. The fresh orange juice is great and there's plenty of options for kids. Their full English/ big village breakfasts are reasonably priced. It pretty swift service and the food is good, it's nothing fancy it very good for the price! I've been several times wit different groups and we've all found something we want to eat...
