I came across the bell inn while looking for some where for the family holiday this year, and I am rather glad I did.
Situated just far enough from Skegness to be away, yet close enough to nip over to the beach.
Not that Burgh le Marsh is without attraction, as the Mrs, the kids, and myself found time to explore the town.
There is a nice play area little further down the side lane from the entrance to the car park of the bell.
But the bell is being reviewed here, as stated in the title of this piece, is my kind of place.
The family room I was expecting wasn't quite as I expected, but was in fact better, being a double room and a twin room with an adjoining door.
Prefect for us as the daughters could have their space as well as the Mrs and myself having ours.
A private shower and toilet was available to us, accessible through the double room, and was perfectly clean, as were the rooms themselves.
The rooms were nice and simple, with some nice prints on the walls, and each room had a television.
A fan to help cool the rooms was provided, as this last week has been a bit overly warm.
WiFi was also available
A cooked breakfast was available each morning, of which I certainly enjoyed, the Mrs and the kids preferring cereal, toast and some hash browns.
We decided to have an evening meal each night as well, and choose from the menu, which was small but there seemed to be be something for everyone, even the fussy eaters I was with!
The bar itself seemed to be a regular place to some friendly locals to gather, and stocks some local brews - I remember bateman's XXXB, Salem porter, and another Bateman's beer, but to be honest that bit is a little hazy...
Bar also has a pool table, where no. 1 daughter learnt how to beat her daddy at yet another game.
A nice touch for me, was not having constant football on the television.
Every member of staff went out of their way to make our stay at the bell inn as pleasant and as comfortable as possible.
I will most likely be...

Read moreJust spent a lovely week at Church Bell View Cottage in Burgh Le Marsh. Beautiful little cottage, ideal for 2 people. Cottage had everything we needed, including a welcome box with essentials. It's owned by Bateman's brewery and there were even 2 bottles in the box too! The brewery is only 10 minutes away and well worth a visit. I love real ale and I discovered Batemans do a good range of really good beers The village is a few minutes drive from Skegness and easy reach of National Trust and other places to visit. Recommend Kinema in the Woods at Woodhall Spa for something a little different. The village has shops e.g. Spar, Co-op and 4 pubs. Roman Bank Bakery does great breakfasts and cakes at very good prices. This Cottage is an ideal place to spend a week and I would definitely recommend it. Special thanks too to the team who manage the cottages, for recovering and returning something we accidentally...
