This venue is very handy for a visit to Dunwich Beach, and especially convenient with children/grandchildren. We have visited twice before, without grandchildren and found it acceptable and not more than that. Breakfast is adequate, with sausages being deep-fried, at some point within the cooking and no such refinements as brown bread.
They had shortages of brown sauce-at opening time-10.00 am🤔blaming it on BREXIT- really🤔
Costing £7.50, breakfast-with one item portion is NOT cheap, with toast-white of course, NO OPTION🤔costing EXTRA😱especially with active hungry grand-daughters of 8 and 13.
We played on the beach, had a great time, playing ball, building sandcastles, and toe-dipping in the water, until our grand-daughters fancied some chips. They were not real chips as we know it, and probably bought-in for convenience-to the owners of course, which was a shame, as you do not need a Ph.D. in quantum Physics to peel real potatoes, and in view of the pricing structure, this is the least that the owners could have provided.
The fish did look very good and £12.50 for a sit-down price choice of three different fish,is reasonable nowadays.
No point in offering feedback as remedial action to issues would have already been implemented
It does seem that maximum profit is the mantra here-judging by the prices, and menu composition, and the choice is accept it or bring your own picnic with all the attendant problems and irritations like flies and wasps and sand.
All in all, it was/is reasonable, but do not expect anything out of the ordinary for your money, but reiterations that the fish does look good.
They probably rely on the Dunwich/Walberswick EFFECT- visitors from towns/cities outside the area thinking it is cheap, and also not experiencing the vistas-unlike we locals.
They do not have to-and do NOT-make any beneficial adjustments to their pricing/menus, because they have sufficient numbers of visitors to be not concerned with constructive/negative feedback. An example was an emphatic ‘We do not do Brown Bread’
Inflexibilty...

Read moreA solid 4.5: I was recommended this place by a foodie, and it didn't disappoint. Located just a 15-minute drive from our Walberswick crabbing location, this spot won us over right from the massive free car park. They encourage donations, which is fair.
Nestled next to Dunwich Beach, this pebble shore is great in the sun. Benches on the beach are sparse, so bring a blanket for your fish and chips feast. But fear not, they offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating too at the restaurant.
We decided to bask on the beach, and our choice of cod and chips for £12.50 was spot on. They had other options like haddock and even skate that day. No size choices, but it was cooked to perfection. The batter was a crispy, fluffy masterpiece. As for the chips, they were more restaurant-style than your average takeaway, and that's a great thing.
Upon opening, I thought the portion seemed a tad small for the price, but I soon realised it was all about quality. Those perfect chips added a real punch to the meal. My wife, however, detected a subtle aftertaste in her fish, but we were deep into our meal, and the queue was growing. We'd already made one trip back for more salt and vinegar sachets.
Overall, I'd return, perhaps choosing a less windy day for beachside dining. Because, honestly, eating on that beach is a delightful experience. This of course is not an issue when seated at...
