Riverside Tearoom — Restaurant in East Suffolk

Oh so very very slow. 45 minutes for two hurriedly assembled panini's and a very mediocre crab sandwich. The panini's were smudged to their sides with toppings leaking, the one advertised as bacon containing some sort of thick ham. One small bite of the crab sandwich contained even a hint of the lemon mayonnaise advertised; one can only assume a squirt of lemon added after the fact. The line of people with issues nearly as long as the line to order. This might inform an observer add to why there was not a single smile in sight from the harried staff. To have paid £18.15 for this thoroughly mediocre experience would normally have resulted in a single star but the view was nice.

Made the mistake of ordering a coffee from Riverside Tearooms, the coffee had a chemical taste and when I mentioned it to the barista and the guy on the till later on I was basically offered a shrug of the shoulders ! P.S. - The rude and disrespectful reply from the owner to my feedback (see below) tells me all I need to know about their attitude towards me as a customer. - The fact that I returned to the cafe later to buy a cup of tea for my wife has nothing to do with my comment regarding the chemical taste I had in my coffee earlier. Tea, is a totally different product and not relevant to my comment, needless to say I will not be returning to this Cafe, I cannot abide arrogant business owners who are rude and resistant to honest...

At the side of the river at Orford, with boats on the shore opposite it, is this lovely tea room. It was very busy when we arrived but we were quickly seen for our order and served with our lunch in quick time. Wonderfully efficient considering the size of their small gallery kitchen. They have a good range of tea, coffee, soft drinks and a main and separate specials menu. Called galore as well. Kids can eat here too and dogs are welcomed. Seating is inside and on a balcony, all accessible for wheel chair users. The jacket potato was well cooked and their homemade coleslaw was very tasty.
