Had a table booked for 7pm on a Saturday, so we expected the place to be quite busy (which it was), but we didn't expect it to be quite so loud. The music playing was so loud people had to raise their voices to talk to each other, and then even more to be heard over other people's conversations.
The atmosphere was nice, we were sat by the window so we had a lovely view of the water, and the decor inside was lovely.
The food was alright - we ordered 3 pizzas, a side salad and a side of chips. The two pizzas with lots of toppings were great, but I just had a margherita pizza, and it was a little disappointing. The base was burnt, and there was about a third of it which looked like it didn't have anything on, no sauce or cheese. The parts that did have the toppings was lovely, but it would have been nice to enjoy the whole thing. Fairly average prices (about £12 for a pizza).
The service was generally okay. The woman who brought us our drinks and took our order was lovely, the food came out in good time, but once we'd finished our meal, we had to wait about 20 minutes with empty plates in front of us before anyone came over to clear our plates, and even when they did, it was only because my partner called someone over. We asked for the bill and it was brought to us, then we asked for the card machine, and the server nodded, left to seemingly go and get it, but went straight back to laying other tables. Eventually we just paid in cash, and we still had to get up to find someone to give it to.
My aunt, who was facing the front of the restaurant, said she felt like they were avoiding making eye contact with her while we were waiting to have our plates taken away. I understand it was quite busy, but there were times when the staff were standing and talking while we were trying to get their attention.
Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. I'd go back again, but I don't think it would be a...
Read moreNormally I would award this restaurant 5plus as we have been eating there for many years introducing many friends to the restaurant. However today I am hard pressed to even give 3. I ordered from their 'special menu', a dish which includes mussels, which I cannot eat, scallops and prawns. I asked, as I have many times before, for the mussels to be replaced with a couple of extra prawns which is then delicious. Unfortunately the chef got the request wrong and served the meal with mussels so it had to go back. However when the meal was served again all the scallops had been taken out and the rest reheated, rather than a fresh meal. Also the added king prawns were still in their shells and It would have taken so long to shell all the prawns the meal would have been stone cold. I was not best pleased. I then discovered that some mussels had been missed so knew it had not been cooked fresh the second time and for this reason the meal was sent back again. Consequently I am now feeling unwell having had a twice reheated pasta dish with mussels which I cannot tolerate. When asking for the bill I fully expected the £19 dish to be excluded or at least discounted but it was added to the bill at full price. After complaining we got a 10% reduction which I thought under the circumstances was totally unfair. As said we were a long standing customer and had expected to have been treated better. Will not be returning any time...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant for the first time on Fri 14th Sep 2018 at around 8:30 PM. It was a busy place, but we got a table without having booked. The interior is nice enough, but since it is one large room, which is tightly packed with tables, it had a slight canteen feeling to it in my opinion. The acoustics are not very good, and the background noise made a conversation difficult. The repeated interruptions of the service staff singing happy birthday to various costomers while serving a birthday dessert were unexpected. The service staff was mixed. The majority were highly attentive and helpful, but some individuals seemed to struggle to hide their exasperation about something. The question, whether a particular fish was caught locally, was answered by shrugging accompanied by a "dunno", but no efforts to ask the kitchen, which was literally 4 steps away, were made. The food came quick, but the taste was very disappointing. Although I like garlic and strongly flavoured food, the creamy garlic pasta sauce was overpoweringly garlicy and also very salty. It tasted almost as if it had been significantly reduced by simmering for too long. The request to serve the meal without the listed side dish was noted down but then ignored. Overall not a horrible experience, but not one I wish to repeat. While the location at the Marina is rather nice and parking is convenient, the food and atmosphere simply weren't good enough to...
