Dear Friends and Google Reviews Community. When I found this on Google Maps (there is clearly no other !) I knew i was unlikely to keep my two men out of the place, Indian Sunday buffet ....... would have been easier to drain the Mediterranean !!!! We arrived at 1200 with no booking in place, recommend booking in advance as it gets busy, we got lucky for a table for three by the window looking out onto the marina. It was a smaller buffet and whilst his Lordship the Lord of Darkness had a downer on no masalla on offer, a crime according to him, he made light work of the lamb bhuna and had to have several plates to confirm and validate his findings,,,,,,, MMoL out of the window moment We had shish kebabs which were fresh and tasty, bombay potato's were very nice with the chilli oil dressing on them, goodbye to his MMoL score for today, onion bhaji were very good, crispy and well filled, chicken mint korma was very nice, very creamy with soft chicken a plenty said the Prince of chaos, not one for his Lordship as he was hell bent on emptying the lamb bhuna and potatoes. I enjoyed the chicken tikka salad which was lovely Small selection of cakes and puddings. Mr "going to be in big deep trouble with his nurse" smashed the living daylights out of the banana and custard which had apple in it which really lifted the taste and gave the Asian rice pudding the bashing of its life and would have packed to go if he had his way such as he liked it that much. Gateau to support the cake range with some Turkish delights biscuits which were different All in all 5 stars, VFM 5 stars, food quality 5 stars, service 5 stars, views 5 stars and a worthwhile visit whilst small it's very good Visit recommended booking to be sure

An underwhelming experience. The service was quick but distinctly lacking in friendliness, bordering on stern. My friend and I ordered from the chefs speciality menu, a lamb dish with rice, and king prawns in a coconut sauce, plus a side dish of aloo ghobi, which was really tasty. Amidst the thick, creamy, but bland sauce I found there were just THREE prawns. I asked the waiter if this was a mistake, he went to check with the chef and returned within minutes to confirm that the chef said, yes, three prawns it is. Disappointing for a main course that was priced at £13.95. I didn't feel this was value for money at all. All I can say is, if you like plenty of prawns and a tasty coconut sauce, this is not the dish for you! There is plenty of variety on the menu, and looking around the food the other diners were eating looked good, particularly the sizzling kebabs, but as a non meat eater, it's not enough for me to want to return here, which is shame, and my choice. Reading the other reviews, it seems they are getting it right with the meat dishes in particular. Plus points are the table presentation is very nice and the view is exceptional.

First visit for the Sunday buffet. Where you can get 3 courses essentially for the £15. The salad and dip table is a nice touch and gives a unique approach. I find the mains are the largest let down. Most would be looking for a chicken massala which there isn’t one. Provided was a buttery chicken which was bland, lacked any flavour at all!! Simply like eating chicken sat in cream yuck! then a sweet and sour style chicken that seems misplaced in an Indian though tasted ok. Crème brûlée and the fruity cream cake were very good though. High drinks prices, such as nearly £5 for a coke. Lovely view and staff as very tentative. I think better mains with an actual half decent chicken curry would be needed to pull the up to a reasonable level. I notice they like to be inventive with their pics and marketing on their Facebook, providing pictures of the place looking busy when the picture is NOT from that day. I saw the pics uploaded for the day we visited with every table rammed and yet there was all of 4/5 tables used. Each their own I guess.

Well we used to use Ganges very regularly. It was our treat when we wanted to celebrate a family occasion we would all choose there. No question. Til last week. We took my son and his friend for a ‘special treat’ His friend lives in Eastbourne but told me he’d never been there. Oh no I said. This is the best curry house anywhere!!! BIG MISTAKE. We arrived at 8pm. Had booked the table cos it used to be heaving. Nope. Two tables taken and us!!! Waiter took our order, brought our drinks and starters. Within three mins he came over to say our mains were ready. Did we want them. We were like, Christ we’ve only just sat down! But we didn’t want the mains to go cold as they were already on the trolley so we said ok. Next thing the waiter plonks down three tikka masalas and then starts rifling through my husbands biriani with a spoon like he had spotted a bug or something!!!! After a few mins he said something to the other waiter who said no no give it and then he placed the plate in front of my hubby!!! As soon as we had started to serve our dishes up he leant over and scooped the plates away, like he wanted us to hurry up. The food was horrible and no meat in the keema Nan. I went to the till and asked for the bill. Got it immediately like they had somewhere else to be. I checked they hadn’t included a tip and for the first time in 40 years I didn’t leave a tip!!! I was so embarrassed that I had bigged up this place to my sons friend and now I felt like a mug! I will never ever set foot in there again and will deter as many people as I can to spend a penny of their hard earned cash in such a poor, badly run, mis managed, rudely staffed place! Please somebody buy them out and bring Ganges back to the place we used to love. What a waste of a beautiful setting! DISGUSTING!!! Ps to be honest it’s a shame you’re not allowed to go lower than one star on the review cos it doesn’t...

I chose Ganges for my birthday meal as the food is always good and I wanted to treat myself. However, there was a mix up with the order when it arrived so I tried for over 20 minutes to phone through to the restaurant and sort it out but the phone was constantly engaged.

I decided to walk round instead, being a 10 minute walk away to discuss the situation. It was clear that the gentleman behind the bar was not prepared to resolve the situation which quickly escalated into an argument where he called me a liar to my face, pulled his face protection down to beneath his chin and leaned towards me during our discussion which I considered threatening behaviour. He refused to admit that the phone was off the hook yet I could here the sound a phone makes in that situation. He then threatened to throw me out, telling other people waiting in the restaurant I was a liar and told me I was threatening him. When I asked how I was threatening him, he walked off. My daughter was with me and she recorded the incident on her phone. I believe he was aware she was doing this.

It is frustrating that this has happened as the food is good but I am shocked that during these difficult times for the hospitality industry that such behaviour was demonstrated, particularly the rather concerning decision for him to expose his mouth during our discussion.

I shall be looking for an alternative restaurant that welcomes its customers...
