My wife and I booked the 2 person window seat for 6pm for my birthday treat. We arrived 5 mins early to find our table taken by another couple. At the door we were not greeted and asked if we had booked a table, a waitress just pointed at a table next to the table we wanted! There were 3 waitresses and they each took turns to ask if we wanted a drink! I'm nearly 70 and every restaurant I have ever been to a waiter or waitress is given certain tables that they are in charge of not just on an ad-hoc basis. Whilst we ordered our food I asked a couple of questions and the waitress just nodded or shook her head but said nothing not even about the specials, I know they were written on a board but you could not read them without getting up and walking over to the board as the writing was far too small. 3 other people then turned up and sat to our right. The couple on our left got their food so we thought we would be next. After about 20 mins the couple behind got their meat and had to wait nearly 10 mins before they got their vegetables! Whilst we were still waiting the 3 people on our right ordered and got their starters, they were not even in the restaurant when we had ordered! Then the couple on our left got their desserts and we still waited. At 7pm we asked one of the waitresses how much longer would our food be and she replied not long but she did not go into the kitchen to actually find out, therefore we got up and left the restaurant. This restaurant states that there will be 10% added to the bill for a service tip! Maybe if they gave a service this tip could be justified but on this showing not a chance. I had to give 1 star for this review but really it should be 0 stars. VERY DISAPPOINTING and we will...
Read moreHaving never been to Regina's before but being recommended by my partner, I was looking forward to a night of great food and service with our two friends. Never again. Reggina (I believe it was) led us to our table, walked past one, pointed to it and then carried on walking without saying a word. We sat. 10 minutes later, we were given a menu without anyone asking us if we would like a drink. After a while, we had to call someone over and ask if we could order our drinks. After we had been sat for over half an hour, our waiter came and asked for our order. Meanwhile we witnessed people arriving and being greeted with a smile and conversation, orders taken and then receiving their starter before we even had our order taken. We did not have a starter. By the time our food arrived, we had been sat for well over an hour. My partner had Carbonara. it was quite dry and she said she had experienced tastier carbonara in an M&S microwave meal. My friend and I ordered the hot/spicy pizza. The topping was adequate in taste and the base was perfectly round (pre bought) and stodgy. I really have had better pizza from many take away stores. Our other friend said her meal was "ok". We had 4 beers, one bottle of house wine and two G&Ts Our bill came to just under £170 including a laughable 10% service charge, which we did not pay. Overall, Reggina's is expensive. The food is not good enough and the staff need training in customer care. I would suggest that if there was a half decent Italian restaurant in the local area, Reggina's would go...
Read moreStaff were friendly and the pizza was nice but unfortunately that is the only positive I can take away. We arrived for our meal and upon arrival were told the table was for 2 hours. Personally this wasn't a nice touch, I feel that if you're spending money at an establishment then you shouldn't feel rushed. We were then seated and there was zero privacy due to the tables being so close, you could not help but over hear your neighbouring tables conversation, which meant I felt I was unable to have a conversation without the world and his dog knowing my personal business. Drinks arrived and were fine, we ordered starters (carpaccio and calamari) the calamari was inedible, I have never sent food back in my life, however I had to send this back and ask for it to be removed from the bill, which felt embarrassing and even more so due to close neighbouring tables being able to hear, my partners arrived and for £12 he essentially received over priced wafer beef. Our mains were fine, pizza and veal, however the veg was quite hard and there was a lot of fat on the veal (for £25 you'd expect a decent amount of meat instead of fat) Unfortunately after such a sad state if affairs.we decided to leave before ordering dessert. Wad a definite shame as I came to Reginna's many moons ago and remember it being lovely, which is why we decided to return for an anniversary dinner. Can't fault the waiters and waitresses, as mentioned they were very friendly, which is why I've given 2* But personally wouldn't recommend and won't be returning...
